J. Crew’s Ludlow Suiting line took a major shot to the solar plexus when Suitsupply introduced/expanded their canvassed $399 line. Even with major sales, it’s going to be tough to find a Ludlow for that low in normal sizes with some sort of regularity.
But for sportcoats? High quality, canvassed sportcoats made from outstanding fabrics that move as well as they look? J. Crew is still the first stop for many of us who start to wince once a jacket gets above $250. You just have to be patient. Here’s the latest proof:
Started out at a “That’s my max for a SUIT” price of $425… and stayed that expensive for seemingly forever. Now, dumped in the sale section at $349, and with the extra 40% off code BYEWINTER it drops to an applause worth $210.
No brass buttons on this one. Patch pockets keep it casual. And the lighter, graphite grey Italian Flannel makes it a hugely versatile 2 season (last half off fall + all winter + first half of spring) sportcoat. Double vent. Easy to tailor non functioning sleeve buttons. And best of all: You can return it. Doesn’t appear to be final sale, and all sizes are available at post time. UPDATE: Sizes are going real fast on these. UPDATE II: Well hang on. More sizes are back in stock as of this (Monday 1/27) morning.
This is a test of will for those of us who have been trying to make January our resolution based no-spend-on-style month.
Code BYEWINTER expires on Tuesday 1/28. Free shipping on all orders today, 1/26.
