Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
The Picks: Timex Intelligent Quartz Black on Black – $98.18
Major hat tip to Serge P. in the comments over here for the tip. The codes, at post time, were in fact stacking. Solid all around. Plus, it’s Piperlime, so everything ships pretty fast and returns free.
UPDATE: The codes aren’t stacking for most anymore. Might as well give it a shot though. Prices are still decent at “just” 30% off . Puts the Red Wings at $203.
UPDATE II: Looks like you need a GAP/BR/ON card for the SILVER13 code to work…
The Picks: Stafford Camel Hair Blazer – $63.99 ($200) Claiborne Cord Blazer – $38.39 ($80), Stafford Herringbone & Leather Gloves – $14.39 ($30)
Biggest? When every sale is a “BIG SALE!!!!!!!” and they’re having sales all the time, it can be tough to tell when one is a step above the other. But a $10 off $25 in store voucher isn’t half bad, and the online prices are pretty solid for this one. UPDATE: They just launched a 20% off up to $150 code, PINECONE, this morning. Thanks to Jeff in the comments.
ABOUT THAT CAMEL HAIR BLAZER… Good Grief. It’s outstanding for the price. It says “classic fit”, but it’s nicely contoured at the sides (size shown: 38R), the sleeves are decently trim in diameter, and while the sleeves run a little long, the button holes are non functioning. The fabric is terrific. Some texture and super soft.Dual vents. The interior is all poly and slightly stiff, but it moves well enough. Arm holes are okay. Could be higher. Shoulder pads could be a little thinner, but they ain’t awful. Made in Mexico. The navy looks incredible. Absolutely worth a good long look. This was a major surprise. Stafford + “classic fit” usually = disaster. Not here.
The Picks: Automatic w/ black, blue, or white dial – $135.00
J. Springs is a division of Seiko, and the brand just isn’t all that well known here in the states. BUT… they make solid watches at affordable prices, with dependable Japanese automatic movements inside. If you’re looking for a simple, affordable, but still interesting casual watch with an automatic movement, that blue dial would be tough to beat. Some of these are listed as 42mm in diameter, some 44mm, so, seems to be some confusion there. Exhibition caseback. And since this is GILT, know that it doesn’t look like you can send these back (since they’re “non-sized”) even for credits.
The Picks: Striped Belt in Green & Burgundy, or Grey & Navy – $48.00, Money Clip – $38.00
Shipping at Brooks Brothers can be a total dealbreaker. But through this weekend they’re offering free shipping on all purchases. No minimum. Might be time to check out something small. Also, all outerwear is 25% off through 11/11.
Y’know what was playing over the P.A. in JC Penney when I went to go checkout the camel hair sportcoat? Jingle Bells. Cripes. Little early for The Little Drummer Boy to be making an appearance at the mall, but the holidays are fast approaching. If you’ve got a lady on your list, now might be the time to start looking. We turned to the ladies over at The Pretty Guinea Pig (which evolved from our female-friendly site, FullClutch, and will carry on henceforth with a more eclectic spin) for some gift worthy picks. Here’s the breakdown:
Steal Alert: Allen Edmonds 5th Ave. oxfords for $199. Leather or Dainite sole. 1st quality,…
For the casual get together where the "table" is a plate on your lap, and…
Something Wicked, hugs in jewelry form, a different kind of cupcake, and more.
Blazers in poly/wool blend for $63. Surprisingly great traveler jeans for $38. Lots more. Math…
Hitting the middle ground for the upcoming holiday feast.
In person with Hamilton's new 38mm, quartz powered field watch.
