Slim fit topcoats, Cashmere, $50 blazers, & More – The Thursday Handful

Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.

 

J. Crew Factory: 50% off EVERYTHING

Its been a year since J. Crew Factory threw open their virtual doors online, and to celebrate they’ve cut the prices on everything (including the brand new arrivals that just showed up yesterday) by half. The new navy tweed sportcoat is especially tempting. Suede elbow patches. Here’s to hoping it fits as well as their herringbone sportcoat. Meanwhile, good call by Derric in the comments who noticed they just released another flannel Thompson suit, this time in glen plaid. This, is in addition to the released-a-few-months-back regular wool glen plaid suit. Impressive. Prices are as marked. Sale goes through Monday 10/14.

 

EXPRESS: $25 off every $75 w/ 1914 + 40% off sweaters & outerwear

Many thanks to David P. who sent in the style tip about the sale as well as the $25 off $75 code 1914. So here’s how this works:

• The Topcoat is 40% off and now $148.80, which is obviously just under $150. But $150 is the next $25 off every $75 with code 1914 threshold. So by buying the cheap lipgloss you actually save $18 more dollars than if you would have just bought the coat itself. There’s socks at $10.90 if you’d prefer that to the lip gloss.
• Express has started to make “fitted” sweaters, much like J. Crew and J. Crew Factory. They’re marked down to $41.94 for the 40% off promo, and buy buying two you get over $75. That means you can use 1914 and the total drops to $58.88 for two slim Merino V necks.

The one drag is the $8.00 shipping, and free shipping doesn’t kick in until $125 after codes have been applied. Coat is on the way for the annual affordable outerwear feature.

 

Piperlime: 30% off select shoes & apparel w/ FALL

Piperlime? Been awhile since they got a mention. But this “FALL” code can be applied to some decent goods. Pebble full grain leather and made in the USA for the Fryes. More on them over here. Alpha Khakis down to the low $40s. Plus, everything ships and returns free… no minimum.

 

J. Crew: Extra 40% off Sale Items w/ EXTRA40

Been running since early this week and the sale section is pretty picked over. Careful, because there’s LOTS of final sale stuff in there. At post time just 36R and 42R left in the super-expensive… but cashmere… blazer. iPhone case just got the nod from Andrew in his 5 Favorites.

Anyone notice that JCP has officially gone back to JC Penney in their logos? No more red box with the blue “jcp” in the corner. Anyway, the tiered code SAVE35 also gets you $20 off $100 and $50 off $200. The cashmere sweater is surprisingly nice feeling and the code gets it under $65. Consider sizing down though, that’s a small shown above. Cord blazer is now a steal at $48. Size shown is a 38. Add some jeans, use the code, and the blazer + Levi’s dip to $69.98 total. Buggyback = Partially lined. Just the very top of the back has lining to it, which is preferred by many who like even their wool blazers to be nice and airy/breezy. Usually $245. Made the best-blazers feature not that long ago.

Jack Spade has some new additions to their sale section, including their pricey, but good looking sailcloth jacket. GAP is offering 35% off with the code GAPSAIL through the Monday. Cole Haan is running a 30% off select items sale with the code FALL30. Billy Reid just launched their Friends and Family Sale, offering 20% off with the code FRIENDS through 10/20. So if you’ve been saving up for the Bond peacoat, now’s a good time.
