BR Suiting, Inception Like Top Cufflinks & More – The Thursday Handful

Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.

Banana Republic: 30% off Full Priced Suiting w/ BRSUIT

The Picks: Tailored-Fit Navy Italian Wool Suit Jacket & Matching Trouser – $385 ($550), the new Modern-Fit Grey Flannel Blazer – $165.00 w/ BRFALL ($275)

Well now. A Banana Republic code that works on suiting? Sure they’re fused, but they’re as good as a fused suit gets. Helped a pal pick out a suit for his wedding, and he went with the Navy Italian Wool option from BR. The wool really does feel top notch, and the jacket moves well for not having a canvas. A hundred dollars more gets you a Suitsupply… but that’s a hundred bucks. Here’s to hoping the code works on blazers as well (it very well might not) since the new ticket-pocket equipped flannel blazer looks outstanding. Also know that they’re running a 40% off code today: BRFALL. Both codes expire today, 10/24.

Update: BRFALL seems to work on the blazer. Which is strange, but, well, thanks for that BR. Credit Joe C. in the comments for noticing.

Update II: Use BRFALL on suit pants to drop the price on the suits even more. Thanks to mjc.

Huckberry: J.L. Lawson & Co. + Izola Bar & Home

The Picks: J. L. Lawson & Co. OOVII- Cufflink Spinners – $59.98 ($72), Izola Neat Flask – $21.98 ($27), Izola Balsam Incense – $12.98 ($15)

Huckberry has some awfully gift-able brands on sale right now. And with the holidays right around the corner, these might be worth a look for that hard to buy for pal, or, for giving Santa a few hints for your list. A sunset walk with a flask is one of fall’s great pleasures. And once you get back home, Balsam (or Red Cedar) incense is a great way to set an olfactory mood. And those cufflinks? Manually Machined in Joshua Tree CA. Nice to have on hand, and on the wrist, for those times you start to question your own reality.

Lord & Taylor: 25% off almost everything w/ FRIENDS

The Picks: Calvin Klein Slim Fit Wool Notch Lapel Tux – $292.50 ($650), Kenneth Cole Reaction Dowel Brief – $172.50 ($460), DKNY Birdseye Suit – $267.75 ($357)

L&T often carries merchandise that’s just a step above what Macy’s usually carries, but still isn’t quite at Nordstrom levels. Retail is high, sales come along often, and an extra 25% off F&F code FRIENDS is most welcome. For the tux, the purists will scoff at the lack of peak lapels, but they don’t look super skinny, and the notch is set nice and high on the chest (giving it a sorta peak-like, yet not at the same time, appearance). All wool, claims to be a slim fit, under three bills and ships free.

J. Crew Factory: Extra 30% off everything w/ SALE30

The Picks: Suede palm knit acrylic gloves – $17.15 ($26.50), Grey Suede Desert Boots – $61.60 ($98)

A little h0-hum coming off the 50% off everything blow out from last week, but there’s a few new arrivals from this week that are worth a look. Those suede palm knit gloves would make for a nice casual/backup option to your leather gloves, and the suede desert boots in dark charcoal look pretty good for $61.60 w/ the code. $5 flat rate shipping up to $100, which is where free shipping kicks in.

Boden: Mid Season Sale

The Picks: The Poacher in British Millerain Navy – $138.60 ($198), Wool Blend (80%) quilted jacket – $158.50 ($198), the Lambswool Scarf – $46.40 ($58)

Even though their men’s side doesn’t have a ton of offerings, Boden doesn’t get enough play here. A British brand that prides itself on well made basics (even if they are from… “imported”) Boden gets a lot of things right. Be wary of blazers and suit jackets though… they run large and the button stance seems to drift a bit far north. Also know that shipping and returns can be a total pain.

Bonus: Waitin’ on a sale at Lands’ End

The Pick: Blackwatch Wool Sportcoat – $169.00

The rollout for LEC’s new arrivals seems awfully slow this season. Just four items so far on the guy’s side? This blackwatch sportcoat is 70% wool, 30% poly, and aside from the sleeves, the lining is all cotton. An interesting mix of fabrics there for sure. Description says the sleeve buttons are functional, so that could be a problem. But at 40% off (say, a one item sale) it drops to just above a hundred bucks. Hm.

Bonus Part II – Bonobos: 25% off $175+ w/ HIGHSCORE

The Picks: Washed Chino Blazer – $148.50 ($198), DB Madison Topcoat – $373.50 ($498), Fairfax Grey or Khaki Cotton Suit Jacket + Grey or Khaki Pant$162.00

The minimum spend threshold is awfully high, but their washed chino blazers clock in at $198. So, they get the cut and are now under $150. Five colors available. Meanwhile, look for the Double Breasted topcoat in the annual Best Outerwear post next week. Many thanks to Andy for sending in the Friday morning style tip. Also, thanks to Keith F. for the heads up about how low the Fairfax cotton suits have dipped.

Also worth a mention
