J. Crew will run one of these extra 30% off sale items codes every few weeks, and it’s a great time for those of us on a J. Crew Factory budget to jump up and snag something from the top line. The codes usually run for about a week, with the sale section sometimes getting replenished with new items a few days before the code expires. Watch out for final sale items since you can’t return those. Picks are limited to items with at least a decent size selection at post time. But things can go quick.
This is a weird one. Not because it’s a 3-button (2/3 rolls get the shaft when it comes to perception… Bond wore them in Skyfall for crying out loud), but instead it’s strange because the jacket actually costs less than the pants. Pants aren’t even on sale and run a steep $225. With the code the jacket dips to $209.30. Decent size selection, but that size selection can be limited by colors available in those sizes. We’re at SuitSupply level here, so you really gotta love J. Crew’s ludlow fit to jump on this. For those on the leaner side, note that they do offer these pants in a slimmer fit (scroll all the way down). Free shipping and free returns on these too.
Stitched out welt, Italian suede uppers, and a red brick rubber sole. Simple but all kinds of right. You can wear these sockless in the summer. Doesn’t seem right at first… until you put them on.
$56 isn’t cheap for a shirt, especially when you can get a Target Merona dialed in for around $40… but these are J. Crew’s softer to the touch non iron in slim. So, maybe no tailoring necessary in the end. Not neck & sleeve. Small, Medium, etc..
You’re either a solo wool trouser guy, or you’re a “why not just wear a suit?” kinda guy. For the prior, the Bowery Classic wool trouser is about as good as it gets. Slim through the hip and thigh, but with a straight leg. Should hit the sweet spot for most. Much more expensive than cotton, but wool trousers can get you a lot farther than many a cotton chino.
Can’t recall seeing these in the sale section before. They’re “imported”, but are built on a Goodyear welt. Plus, like many of their other shoes based on classic designs, they’ve slimmed down the toe. So no more Grandpa-shoe-silhouette. Available in a dark chocolate brown and black.
A great price for their basic Merino V. There are other color options available, but this Dusty Clay is going to be the most versatile. Maybe pair it with some of those almost white 5-pockets once the sun goes down?
A pack-it-for-the-lake sweater/sweatshirt. Shawl collar, sailor stripe, and a kangaroo pocket up front.
“Regular” fit at J. Crew is on the generous side, but not enormously ballooning. Regular fit is the fit that some guys with hunks of meat on their legs will gravitate towards after the Urban Slim fit has cut off circulation to their ankles. Two color options here, both of which have more visual interest than basic khaki, but stay away from going full neon dandy.
Green just doesn’t get enough respect. These are in a more toned down green, but if you’re looking for a Made in the USA pair, head on over to Jack Spade’s sale section, where you can get these (or this pair in red/navy) for $75 with the code MEM25OFF through today, 5/27.
For those who want something with more cushioning than Chucks, Keds, or Boat Shoes this summer. Lighter grey should go with just about everything.
Available in a few colors in each fit, with some of the brighter colors dipping as low as $21 with the code. A good price, but man… wish Target would bring back those Mossimo slim fit polos from a year or two ago. More on that Tuesday.
Bit of a splurge, but they’re made in Italy and the style is pretty darn perfect for a khaki suit. 2″ wide.
Certainly not as safe as grey, navy, or black, but a few colors that can still be worn with jeans or chinos. Expensive. But, it’s cashmere.
The extra 30% off code HELLOSTYLE expires Sunday 6/2. And has anyone else noticed they dropped their flat rate shipping to $5? That’s a nice switch. Free returns as well? It says “limited time”. Wonder if this is an experiment to try and boost their online numbers.
The Huck team is off on vacation. Which means their big winter clearance is very…
Brooks Brothers starts their winter clearance with an additional 25% off sale items.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
Style choices to make for those times when how you're perceived is critical.
