*NOTE: The code has to be in all lower case. And you have to donate a pair of gently used shoes. More below…
Allen Edmonds is once again offering $35 off any new pair of Allen Edmonds in exchange for a pair of gently worn shoes. They’ve been partnering with the non-profit Soles4Souls for years, and once again they’re collecting shoes from us to distribute to those who need them.
The offer is going on in store, but in case you’re not near one, you can simply ship your old shoes to Soles4Souls. Use the code “honor” at checkout, and $35 is taken off your order. Once your new AEs arrive, use that same box and ship your gently worn shoes to:
Soles4Souls, Inc.
1169 County Road 868
Wadley, AL 36276
(256) 395-0268
Yes, you have to pick up the tab for shipping, but if you send em’ along parcel post or something cheap, they’ll get there without taking too much of a ding out of your wallet. And c’mon, it’s for a good cause. Also works as a fantastic bit of rationalization if your better half has raised an eyebrow on your growing shoe collection. Okay, on with the picks:
Yes indeed the code even works on clearance. Hot damn. Bison leather, rawhide laces, classic stitched moc toe, and one of those late winter to early spring transitional boots that’ll keep the muck off your socks. Made at the Allen Edmonds facility in the Dominican Republic.
Good. Goodness. Brand new. Built on the 3 last which is the same one the more modern, European looking Allen Edmonds shoes are built on. Little bit longer, has a bit of a gentle chisel toe. A half-brogue single monk? Too much going on there or all kinds of awesome? At first glance, walnut seems like it’d stand out way too much, so black might be a better play. But there’s no dark brown or bourbon option. Thoughts from you guys?
In case you wanted something just as well built, but more standard in styling (yet still a monk strap).
Might want to read up on the description for these. Designed specifically with a short, low vamp, and a high instep.
WHOOO. Grey and Navy! YEAH. Jeans and cotton sportcoat worthy. Rubber sole with a bit of grip somehow works and works well here. Obviously a casual shoe. Made in the USA.
Sleek. As. Hell. Sure, a little funky, but what’s life without a little funk? It’s the Lawrence Welk show. And no, bubble machines do not count as funk. Elegant but interesting and built like the Allen Edmonds tanks we all know and love. Not the most common model, and not the easiest to find on sale.
Would make one hell of an elegant shoe to wear with a linen suit this summer. Made in Italy. Bologna construction.
Like the Dalton (now down to $360 with the code) but want something with: A. Less structure, and B. Less Price? The Cronmok is another one of those newer styles that Allen Edmonds has been brave enough to go out on a limb on. 5/5 stars after 30 reviews. No inner lining, closed lacing, and a wingtip.
Many thanks to IanSD for bringing up the code in the comments over here. Somehow slipped through the cracks (got my grey pair on the way for $147 myself). Might want to check that previous post, a Style Scenario, for one suggestion on how to wear them, plus a few in-person pics in the comments.
Dear Allen Edmonds: Would love to see more of this Bourbon shade. The lighter “walnut’ is appreciated by many, but this bourbon hits the perfect midpoint between that light shade and your super dark standard brown. Much appreciate the consideration.
Thoughts on the new Franciscan Monk? Leave it all in the comments below. Meanwhile, the $35 off in exchange for sending shoes to Soles4Souls code “honor” is good through 3/10/13. Don’t forget to ship your old pair. It’s the honor code. If you don’t follow up with your end of the agreement, you’ll certainly burn in style hell, where you’ll be forced to wear nothing but Zubaz, Sketchers Shape Ups
Smart choices, both in style and practicality, for rainy fall days.
