Lands’ End Canvas Waxed Cotton Blazer – $250.00
Waxed cotton is a little bit like leather. It has some durability, can hold up against some weather, and doesn’t look quite right when cut and sewn into a sport coat.
But, maybe this is the exception? Perhaps? To you. Or you over there. Maybe?
Corduroy elbow patches and under collar lining. Unlined. Appears even in the LEC web photos to have a bit of a dull sheen to it. Because, y’know… it’s waxed.
Available in standard chest measurement sizes, starting at 38. Like all LEC items as of late, you’d think this one would drop significantly in price after a few months. But throw price out of the equation for now…
Would you wear it? Leave your take in the comments.
.
For that price, no. But knowing LEC I might end up taking a flyer on it down the line.
Seems like a waste of a decent looking blazer!
Negative. Just… no.
It’s definitely interesting, but I think it’s one of those pieces that would be really hard to pull off unless you dressed it very close to the promo image.
Even if I did wear it, I wouldn’t pop the collar.
Like the pattern, but honestly, if you’re going to make a blazer out of waxed cotton then you might as well make one out of a windbreaker.
I would wear it, but only with a red plaid shirt, a royal blue cardigan and gray tie because that is clearly a color combination that fuses it all together.
I’d wear it and consider it a specialty piece of outerwear. Couldn’t wear it everyday, and certainly woln’dt wear it inside of doors, but it would be great for things like tailgating all day for college football on a crisp fall day, hitting up the farmer’s market with the g/f, cocktails on the lawn
I think it would be best to use that $250 to go towards a Barbour jacket, like their Bedale model or some other waxed cotton jacket in their catalog. You’ll just have to save up a little bit more cash. You’ll get a lot more wear out of it than this blazer.
When it’s $30 shipped, we’ll all be scrambling for it, singing the praises of waxed cotton sport coats.
I’m a big fan of these alternative/outerwear material sport coats that are popping up. I would be interested, at a sale price, if only LEC offered clothing in my size. I get a lot of surveys from them in my e-mail and the one thing I keep saying over and over is that they need to offer x-small shirts & 36 chest jackets 🙁
I would, but not this one. If it were in a khaki or olive color, I think it would look great.
Yes, I like it a lot. This a is perfect Seattle fall blazer but still too limited (for me) to justify dropping over a $100. I agree with Butch that spending $500 on a Barbour would make more sense at full retail.
That’s really the only scenario I could see it working.
under $50, I’d snag one. However, I would not wear like like that model, the color/pattern combination on that guy is just horrible.
Gotta go with no on this one. Altho I am digging the hell out of that cardigan. THAT may be a purchase.
It could just be the popped collar and what else that guy’s wearing, but to me this just screams “douche”. Like it says above, it just seems off when cut like that.
On their own, i like each piece. Together, i think the get-up is a bit too hipster for me.
Love the Jacket, though.
What the fuck is that guy wearing?
I feel like I’d have to see it in person to decide for sure, but my gut says “No.” Waxed cotton looks too much like nylon, which just doesn’t seem right for a blazer. I have a waxed cotton jacket, but it’s a casual zip-up jacket.
