Plenty of us just aren’t “smell” guys. Cologne & perfume is just a section of a department store you gladly avoid. Which makes you wonder how well this particular box from Bespoke Post will do, even though the, uh… “aroma driven” items really do smell pretty good. And that’s coming from someone in the “as long as it doesn’t smell bad” camp. They’re masculine, but not so much so that a lady friend (or friends) wouldn’t mind taking a deep whiff.

The candle is a 60-hour soy wax with a not too strong scent, based in some sweetness of “flower” and “vanilla” then earthed up with “tobacco”. Sachet (translation: bag of smelly stuff) might be the least masculine sounding word this side of parasol, but this bag of Siskiyou (Ginger) Cedar is sort of hard to keep out of your face. It’s got a real spicy smell. Almost sour, but in a good way. Woodsy, some pine… if they made a deodorant scented with this, it’d be worthwhile. And the bag would make a nice addition to your sock drawer or tucked in a suit garment bag.
Aroma-free items are the pair of hand-painted ceramic coasters and a real nice pocket sized notebook. Perfect for the nightstand or for, you guessed it, taking with you to the bar.
It’s a well put together box. Good items for the guys who have just gotten past furnishing a place, but could use a few small things to fill, not clutter, it up. Spending $45 sight & smell unseen might be another story.
