Macy’s One Day Sale
Picks – October 21 – 22, 2011
As always, it’s incredibly tough to peg when Macy’s will launch a One Day Sale. Sometimes a month and a half will go by between them, sometimes only a few weeks will pass. One thing is certain: These are sales worth paying attention to. The one-day sale prices are some of the best mark downs in the retail industry. Here’s some of the best from the One-Day-Sale which runs Friday October 21 – Saturday October 22. Items marked with a * are “Web Busters.” In store prices may match up, and may not. Selection on all items (especially shoes) in store can vary greatly.

Guess Leather Moto Zip Jacket – $258.29
* ($575)

There’s some potential here. GUESS usually fits slimmer than most, and the lines through the shoulders along with the two simple chest pockets are a huge bonus. No banding at the collar or cuffs, a moto collar, and zippers at the sleeves. One review had kind things to say about the leather quality.
Michael by Michael Kors Navy Suit – $199.99
* ($495)

Michael Kors suiting from Macy’s isn’t as trim as say, an Alfani Red or Hilfiger, but it doesn’t drape like a traditional fit suit either. Somewhere in between. So if you’re somewhere in between in body shape, might be a nice template for your tailor to work off of.
Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply Wool Blend Ragg Sweater – $43.99
($85)

From Ralph Laruen’s new Denim & Supply line, which is sort of half way between RL and Rugby. Wool/Acrylic blend and has a weekend look to it for sure.
Kenneth Cole Walking Coat – $112.49*
($250)

Not quite sure about that shoulder detail, but if you want something that’s simple but still has a little character, worth a look. Available through Overstock for a little less, but only in black. Ships and returns free.
Nautica Wool Mix Peacoat – $112.49*
($250)

More traditional and easier to wear than the Kenneth Cole. Part of the best outerwear post. If you don’t have a Macy’s nearby and your shopping options are limited, this’ll ship free and look better than most. Especially for the price, which has dipped as low as $99 in store, but online has been a different story. This is close to that price point.
Dockers Alpha Khaki – $44.99
($68.00)

The newest pants from Dockers. A heavier jean like twill that still has plenty of chino at its roots. Fits pretty slim from what you hear. A better price than what they were going for during the Dockers Khaki event last week. Check the comments over here for more on the Alpha’s fit.
Alfani Red Shawl Collar Grey Slim Fit Overcoat – $134.99
($350)

Whoa. A shawl collar? Not something you’d expect from a Macy’s House Brand. Even if it is the one that leans a little younger and takes more risks. Not for everyone, but not everyone likes the standard peacoat/overcoat look either. It’s a wool mix, and no word on how much wool makes up the wool/poly/viscose/other mix.
Tommy Hilfiger Sable Suede Boat Shoes – $59.99 ($79.00)
Calvin Klein BODY Charcoal Slim Fit Suit – $269.99 ($650)

Might be as close as you’re going to get to a full blown J. Crew Ludlow aside from the FACTORY option that’s an 80/20 mix. Calvin Klein’s BODY line fits slimmer than most slim-fits and the lapels are trim too.
Lots of coats and pretty expensive this time. This current Macy’s One Day Sale ends Saturday 10/21.
I will be grabbing a few pairs of the alphas.
Thanks for the heads up on the sale Joe!
The alphas sound like they are going to be too tapered for me. I’ll wait to try them on in-store before pulling the trigger. I’m also getting curious about the “All The Time” khakis on the dockers website. They come in D1 fit and say tapered leg, so I’m wondering if they might be a happy middle ground between alphas and other D1s. I like my slim-softs, but they do look a bit like boot cuts sometimes. Not too many colors offered in the slim “all the time” khakis though.

How’s the fit of these CK Body slim suits compared to Alfani Red, Hilfigger Trim, & BarIII?
I have large thighs and can’t get into the Alphas. The Levi’s 514’s are almost a perfect fit for me, so if those fit you loose then you should be OK.
I have a narrow waist and muscular legs. 514s are a bit tighter on my thighs than I like, but they are my favorite fitting jeans anyway. Sounds like no alphas for me! 🙂 Thanks for the tip
Armholes look way to big on that leather jacket, especially when the zipper’s are closed.
I was looking at the CK Body suit and I couldn’t find any sizing for the pants…in fact i couldn’t find it for any suit!
http://www.ideeli.com had the kc reaction walking coat in olive and camel about a week ago. picked up the camel/saddle thought it was going to be a little lighter but still a great coat. a medium was large enough that i could actually fit it over a suit jacket/blazer but still look slim (40l, 33/34 6’0, 185)
Gotta say I just found this site and its really great!
FYI, Timex has 20% off sales for selected watches that include originals (the 1970s blue one, 1900s brown, etc). It comes down to $76 w/ free shipping. Code: FALL2011. The sale seems to end today. Since nordstrom doesn’t look like it will re-stock those that sold out, maybe this is the best bet.
