Hello Dappered readers,

This is a very special week for me here at Ask A Woman.  Here’s why.  One year ago, I became Dappered’s female style guru.  Though a writer by profession, I was only a style expert by hobby, yet our fearless Dappered leader took a chance on me, and hired me to write a weekly column for this amazing website.  I am grateful to Joe for the opportunity.  And also the fact that he has forgiven me, so many years later, for that face wash I gave him in the dead of winter when we were both eight years old.  Yep, I’ve known him for that long.

Editor’s Note:  Let the record show that while I was a tubby weakling as a kid, Beth was enormously tall and gangly.  Clear into high school she was like this praying mantis with a pony tail.  So it’s no wonder she could make me eat a face full of snow.  She was probably even dressed for battle in her favorite stonewashed jean jacket.  If only there were a picture of that jacket available somewhere on Facebook.  Oh wait.  There is.  See?  I must have been terrified.  Regardless, well done with the past year Beth.  You are forgiven.  – Joe

And to my AAW readers…the first couple weeks my column had around 5-10 comments.  This has steadily progressed to a regular 20-30 or more comments per column.  You’ve challenged me, stumped me, pushed me, delighted me.  The column is NOTHING without your participation.  Thank you for sending me questions.  Thank you for commenting.  Thank you for making me laugh.  Thank you for agreeing with me.  Thank you for disagreeing with me.  When my professional life has been otherwise crummy (writing for a living is not always lucrative or easy) you readers and this column have been a bright spot.

Here’s to another year of style.  Another year of excessive body hair, shoe dilemmas, dating quandaries, and suit questions.  Keep exploring; keep pushing the limits of style.  Keep writing to me. I’ll keep answering.
