These are certainly worth a front page mention.  The Thompson Suit Jacket is the only one to have gone through in-person testing, but if the cut and feel of that jacket is any kind of hint as to how the wool herringbone and wool/nylon tweed will pan out, then they’re a solid bet.

It’s early, but there could be a bit of a drought on under $100 fall appropriate sportcoats this year.  Old Navy has released a few, but they’re three buttons.  GAP is doing their best Topman impression with their models, so who knows if they’ll release anything similar to their herringbone blazer from last year.  And for as often as some of us have scoured our local thrift store, jackets that look like these are rarely available in the 38R – 40R range.  They’re always huge.  Good if you’re a bigger guy.  Not so good if you’re under two bills.

So even though these are north of $100, this might be as good as it gets this year.  Maybe.  (Again, it’s August.)

The herringbone should go with just about everything.  Try the lighter tweed sportcoat with something in a muted orange.  The real deal is the suit.  The MUSTSHOP code is good for 30% off J. Crew FACTORY.  Even the Thompson jacket’s matching pants.  That means the entire Thompson Suit comes in at $180.  It’s tough to imagine finding a better off the rack three-season suit for that kind of price.
