This is a tough one. Many of us always have an eye out for inexpensive, barely structured, casual cotton blazers. And this “medium indigo” version from Lands’ End Canvas hits that trifecta easily. It’s cheap (because it doesn’t appear to be selling?), it has no shoulder pads, and it’s half lined.
The fit is surprisingly good off the rack and comes in decently close at the sides. Could use some extra tailoring if you’re real slim, but if you have some width to your torso, it’s breezy without being bulky.
.
Some of reviews complain about the sleeves running extra long, but they only seem slightly long on my average length arms. Functional button holes could make alterations a pain, but if there was ever a blazer to unbutton at the cuff and flip back? This is it. Wear it around for a few hours and you’ll notice how comfortable and light it feels.
But maybe it’s the color. Or the color combined with the visible stitching at the patch pockets. Whatever it is, it leans closer to a pair of mom jeans than the cool blue this-is-not-denim sold out chambray LEC Pocket square. The blazer is light enough in shade that if you pair it with jeans, you best make sure they’re inky dark blue. Midnight blue. Almost black blue. Otherwise, you’ll get that Denim Dan look going on.
It’s quite comfortable in the heat and looks decent with light chinos. Just $40 too. But would you wear it?
