Bonobos Crocodandies – $50.00
(reg. $88.00) | Bonobos Mint Juleps – $88.00

Might be time for some of us self described minimalists to turn in our minimalist membership cards. Because while red pants might be pushing it for us, it’s a pair of bright green (but not neon) pants like these that might be too tempting to pass up.
First mentioned in the 10 Best Bets for $75 or Less back in April, the Bonobos Crocodandies seem to be coming and going on their site’s sale section. $50 is a lot for a pair of chinos, but the color is a medium to light green that leans to the cooler grey/blue instead of the usual olive warm brown.
A similar pair in pinwale cord (meaning extremely fine width) is available for the regular price of $88.00. Too warm for the south, but might be doable still in cooler climates.
The color is a tough line to walk. Head one direction and you’re in that muddy green territory. Go the other way and your legs will look like two half eaten orders of cotton candy.
It’s just enough crazy without needing to be committed. Keep everything else simple. Suggestions include a plain black polo and white sneakers if you’re going casual, or a navy blazer, bright white shirt, and thinly striped black tie if you’re dressing them up.
But would you wear it? Or is it just too much? Leave your vote in the comments section below…

Interesting to see it paired with black shoes, but that does subdue the ensemble a bit while still letting the green pop. I think I’d try it with a white polo or dress shirt w/ a charcoal tie, a dark brown belt and shoes (probably my beat-to-death pair of Cole Haan loafers). Maybe a blue or gray cardigan. But I don’t wear black super often.
I’d rock it with white sneakers and belt (or maybe yellow) and a washed cotton white tattersal shirt with the sleeves rolled. It’d have to be an uber-casual event, though. Nice summery look.
I feel like they would be less out there than my yellow chinos. I have a polo that color from The otter bay Company, (http://otterbayco.com/MENSKEYSTONE_SALE.html) best polo I’ve ever owned. This is a great color.
This color of pants is classic prep. Pair them with an Oxford, boat shoes, and a surcingle belt.
I’d wear it with a light blue oxford and either sneakers or loafers, depends on the mood.
Love the pants but not sure I like what you have paird with them. Navy or black just weighs down the outfit IMO.
My preferred outfit of choice with these pants is bright, crisp white button up with a thin, light grey v-neck sweater. Black or brown shoes/belt combo would work, but I think I prefer brown. Nice white sneakers could do the trick of dressing it down a tad.
I’d wear the pants, but I’d keep it simple otherwise. Boat shoes or sneakers with a simple polo or oxford shirt. And Joe, what’s with the black and navy? Everyone knows you don’t pair black with navy.
Black & navy may not be an ideal pairing but I wouldn’t go as far as saying ‘never’ do it. It just comes off a bit more formal than brown shoes with a navy jacket/suit. (If I were to wear navy to a wedding, funeral, etc, I’d probably go black over brown).
I’d definitely wear them. I’ve been in the mood for brighter colored pants/chinos recently, especially with the nice weather we’ve been having in Southern California. I picked up a bright red pair of D1’s last weekend and a pair of madras shorts a few weeks back and they’ve both been getting plenty of play time. I’ve been looking for yellow and a good shade of green (similar to these.) May have to ‘bite’ on the Crocodandies at some point.
Definitely a fan. I’d wear ’em.

Who is this “everyone” you speak of? 🙂 Call me a rebel I guess?
I’d kick it. Like a one-legged ninja; those pants are awesome. The rest of the outfit has to be very subdued, but those are awesome.
I definitely would and I like your pairings sans the black shoes. Somethin in me still won’t let me do navy and black.
All I can think of is Andy Bernard. That might be just enough for me to not wear them. Ed Helms can pull it off, I don’t think I could.
Bought pants just like these from the Polo outlet – $30 or something. Great for Easter, Mother’s Day, etc. Very country club.
Agree with most have already said…looks great except for those black shoes. White sneaks, white or tan bucks, brown suede loafers would be much better.
Wear them? Yes. Buy them? No.
The problem with a pair of pants like this is that wearing them more than occasionally will quickly earn you a reputation as Mr. Green Pants. $50 might be a bargain for pants that you can wear a couple times a week, but it’s pretty steep for pants you can only wear a couple times a month, and then only really in spring/summer.
It would be a different story if you’d gotten them dirt cheap off a clearance rack or a thrift store. That’s just my $.02, though….
However, I must disagree with what seems to be the majority here. I think black and navy are fine as long as it’s a rich, distinctly blue shade of navy… that is to say, not the type where you have to look and squint and examine in sunlight to tell whether it’s navy or black. I approve of the outfit.
If you got a few of the other colors on bonobos site that might balance it out… lol
I’m not sure if Mr. Rainbow Pants is a significant improvement over Mr. Green Pants….
I only bring the point up because a former co-worker of mine once wore a pair of pastel green pants to the office. Once was all it took, and nobody ever forgot them (or let him forget)….
And this was not an office with a particularly conservative dress sensibility.
Agreed. Like patterns, gotta have enough distance between the two colors.
Hmm..
I’d like to think I’d wear it but I’m not sure I could pull it off.
I do like them, though. Perhaps on someone else.

Green Pants? No
Green Shorts? Yes
No. Hell no.
I had a pair like this in 1989. I also had a mullet and thought Sonny Crockett was a snappy dresser. When they went to goodwill after being worn only a couple of times, (thankfully no photos exist) I vowed “never again”. I’m going to keep that vow.
Spooky pale green pants with nobody inside ’em.
I own a pair of these and always enjoy wearing them. The green is different enough to get wtf stares from the affliction/cargo short masses so they’re effectively one of my f you pants 🙂 I like a blue vneck t with grey chucks. They fit and feel great.
You better be in fantastic shape and have a sublime ass.
