Nordstrom’s New Markdowns – March 2011

The influx of items into Nordstrom’s online sale sectionicon has gone from their usual and predictable trickle, to a full blast stuff the towels in the drain and flood the house Home Alone style.  (Sidenote:  The Wet Bandits have a Facebook page?)  No joke, all of a sudden there’s a ton of good looking stuff in there.  It doesn’t appear to be a special event like their half-yearly sale for men, but plenty of the items are worth a look.  Here’s the proof:
.

Swatch Simply Pure Automatic – $220icon ($370) | Style Driver Chrono – $116 (reg. $190)
Auto on the left, quartz on the right.

For the guys who lean modern when it comes to their watches.  The simple pure was featured in the best of the automatics feature and is now at a more than acceptable price.  The Style Driver is was available for $113 via Nordstrom but you get free shipping if your order through Amazon.  Sold direct by Amazon too.
.

Calvin Klein CK One Low Rise Trunk – $15.90icon (reg. $24.00)
Putting your junk, in some trunks.

This is about as much thought as you’ll want to put into your underwear.  Calvin Klein, low rise, and a trunk style leg that hits the right point between briefs and boxer briefs.  (More on underwear over here)
.

Converse Jack Purcell Johnny – $44.90 (reg. $79.95)
And they ship free too.

A slightly different take on the timeless Converse Jack Purcell.  Great color selection, all sizes, and thanks to a free shipping with shoes promotion, you’re entire order ships free if you get these.
.

Victorinox Swiss Army Chrono Classic XLS – $409.90icon (reg. $825)
Heirloom worthy

A big investment even at half off, but good grief look at it.  That’s how you do a stainless steel chronograph.  Swiss made, perfectly sized links, busy dial but still balanced.
.

Public Opinion Layering Crew-neck Thermal – $14.90icon (reg. $30)
Not too long underwear looking.

Just a thermal with a decent looking collar.  Some guys like thermals, others don’t.  The thing that sets this one apart other than the nice price?  It’s made in the USA.
.

Calibrate Davis Simple Loafer – $79.90icon
Right because it's not wrong.

For whatever reason it’s a real pain trying to find a pair of simple, versatile loafers.  The Nordstrom house brand Calibrate and their Davis loafer is one of the few options that doesn’t get nuts with stitching, toe shape, etc…  Now on sale for under $80.  Well reviewed, ships free too.
.

1901 Woven Silk Prep Tie – $32.90icon ($49.50) | Hugo Boss Solid Tie – $62.90icon ($95.00)
"Oh Captain My Captain?"... and black.

Not everyone digs the hyper-prep trend because one wrong move and you can look like you’re wearing a Dead Poets Society costume.  But when done right it can look pretty sharp.  The 1901 Tie doesn’t get too bright, plus it’s made in the U.S.A.  The Hugo Boss tie is made in Italy, should (SHOULD) be of substantial quality, and that means it’ll tie a terrific knot and be of a solid weight.
.

Bodhi Canvas Messenger – $129.50icon (reg. $198) | Linen iPad Case – $64.90icon (reg. $98)
Surprisingly close in price.

Not totally sure on the messenger thanks to the seemingly unnecessary metal accents on the buckle straps.   But nice top handle on a more traditional flap-over messenger.  For the iPad case… yes that’s expensive.  But so’s an iPad if you have one.

Nordstrom sale items are available at the reduced price until they run out of stock.

Man, that Victorinox is incredible. I’m not generally a fan of metal bracelets, but this is truly just a wow. Great list Joe!

    Cheers,
    Ben

That Victorinox is sweet. And Nordstrom’s is an authorized dealer, no? So the Victorinox warranty would still be good?
