Rugby EXTRA 25% off Sale Items

Rugby SALE – Extra 25% Off Select Sale Items

Ralph Lauren’s Rugby line can be hit and miss, and has a couple distinct advantages and disadvantages:

  • CONS: Their stuff is often overpriced and sometimes nauseatingly preppy
  • PROS: They seem to be actively growing up the brand, and when on sale?  Items can be had for a bargain.

Plus, they offer $5 flat rate shipping.  So that’s not bad either.  Now their current extra 25% off sale is one of those “select items only” deals, but there’s enough stock/sizes and items to pick from that this one is actually worth a look.  Here’s some of the best, and remember the extra 25% gets knocked off once it goes into your cart.
.

Wool V-Neck Cardigan – $52.49 (reg. $128.00)

Alone? Fine. Combined with the rest? Costume.

This is a perfect example of how Rugby can alienate potential customers.  JUST the cardigan itself, with the double contrast stripes on one arm, that’s a nice sporty cardigan.  If that’s your thing.  Combine it with a plaid shirt, dark bow tie, leather bracelet, and silver ID bracelet, (not to mention the velvet slippers in the full pic online) and you hit Mach 8 on the preppy costume meter.  Nice sweater.  Let’s leave it at that.
.

Essential Lambswool Scarf – $22.49 (reg. $59.50)

Ladies: Not a bad Valentine's Day gift for your guy.

Nothing crazy, nothing fancy.  Just the ends have the stripes and a couple details:  “Sewn “Rugby RLFC Athletic Wear” accents one end, sewn “Ralph Lauren Rugby” tag accents other end.” The online pics don’t show the Rugby RLFC Athletic Wear text, but it can’t be that invasive.  100% lambswool.
.

Merino Lambswool Buttoned Mockneck – $74.25 (reg. $128.00)

No you don't have to button it all the way up.

Still expensive at $75, this is the way to upgrade from an old half/quarter zip mock neck you wear on the weekends.  The buttons work just as well (and look better while giving some extra weight to the neck) and the Merino Lambswool will keep you super warm.  A perfect addition under a cotton utility jacket for once it warms up to just above winter coat level.  Nice red stripes at the cuffs.
.

Lambswool Fingerless Gloves – $14.99 (reg. $39.50)

iPhone and Droid ready.

Hoo-ray for touch screens, but when they’re on everything (ATMs, your phone, self checkout stands at the grocery store), constantly removing your gloves during this time of year can get annoying.  So if your finger tips can take it, these are the way to go.  100% lambswool, nice stripes at the cuff, dirt cheap.  Available in black and navy as well.  Yes, there are some touch screen compatible gloves out there.  But they don’t look that great… yet.
.

Lambswool Hooded Pullover – $52.59 (reg. $128)

And it even comes with a hood.

Hooded sweatshirts don’t get a lot of play on this site, but when it’s a lambswool version like this one?  Just proves there’s always exceptions to every rule.  The black has the thicker grey bands at the cuffs and hem, with the arm stripes.  The Navy only has cream double stripes at the cuffs.
.

Cotton Shawl Collar Cardigan – $52.49 (Reg. $128.00)

Tie worthy? Depends.

More shawl collars, more stripes, more Rugby prep style.  Paying mid $50s for a cotton shawl collar might seem a little steep when you can have similar versions for much less, but that single stripe is slick.  Nice buttons too.  Previously mentioned in this year’s SB post.
