It’s not easy finding a tweed pant that doesn’t look like it fell out of an old man’s closet. The latest edition of the Express Producer Pant fills that void with a modern cut, wool mix pant in grey (not brown) tweed.
Purists would ask if you can really call something tweed if it’s not 100% wool. And these absolutely are not. They’re a combination of wool and synthetic fibers (with the majority of the fabric made up of the latter) but they don’t feel like plastic. Instead, they feel like a smoothed out version of nubby tweed.
The fit is straight with some room to move. So if you like your pants especially trim, these aren’t for you. The look and even the feel of the pant would be hard to pass up for any guy looking for a new pair of wear to work / out on the town pants.
I wore a pair of plain gray stretch-cotton producers to the store, and when I took them off to put these on it was an immediate and noticeable upgrade. The texture, color mix… not a bad choice for this time of year.
