Black Friday 2010 Open Thread
What’d you find and where’d you find it? Share it all in the comments section below. Are you hitting the stores today? Staying home and shopping online? Or are you boycotting the day all together? Any tips on surviving or thriving on Black Friday are welcome as well. Past experiences too. Here’s a few Black Friday specials (in no particular order) to get you started:
.
Macy’s: Specials site and store wide. Free Shipping on $99 with code GIFTS
Macy’s is the king of picking and choosing merchandise to go on special during Black Friday. There’s no blanket 40% off savings code or anything since they have such a wide variety of clothes, shoes, and appliances. So it’ll be a lot of sifting through things you don’t want, for a few that you do. *Bonus Picks: This beefy Citizen Chrono for just over $200, these 1/2 ct t.w. diamond studs for her, for just $199, and maybe even a navy pinstripe Hilfiger Trim Fit suit jacket and pant for $225 total. Spend more than $99 online and get free shipping with the code GIFTS.
.
Amazon.com – Select savings site wide, lightning deals too.
Amazon is usually pretty easy to navigate, but on Black Friday it’s a lot to handle all at once. There’s deals scattered throughout the site, but if you want to start off on their Black Friday homepage, you can do so here. Plus, they do these things called “lightning” deals, which are product specific flash sales with limited quantities. Keep your eye on those, you never know what’ll pop up and the discounts are sizable.
.
Gap: 50% off before 10am in-store, 20% off online with code GAPTHANKS
Gap doesn’t screw around on Black Friday. Half off. Everything. It’s a limited time deal so you best get to your local GAP store (good luck with the masses) before Noon 10am. They’ve been a bit coy about whether or not this same discount will apply online. (UPDATE: It doesn’t. 20% off with code GAPTHANKS) If it does, it means many of us won’t even consider shopping in-store. Because with a purchase of $50 or more you now get free shipping. And you can cross pollinate your online shopping bag with other Gap Family merchandise to get the free shipping. Meaning if you plan on spending a total of $50 or more between Gap, Banana Republic, or Old Navy today? Stay at home and get it shipped to you for free.
.
Banana Republic: 40% off until NOON with code BR40FRIDAY
Remember when it sounded like Banana Republic was going to boycott Black Friday? Not a chance. They’re still going to do a NOT Black Friday event for card members (and probably others too) from December 3 – 5. 30% off will be the discount for those days. Today is better. 40% off your entire purchase until noon. Free shipping on $50 or more. *Bonus Pick: This terrific blue blazer for $118 shipped. That’s an incredible deal.
.
Kenneth Cole: 40% off until 12pm EST on 11/26 with code R2149
Free tote (yay) if you spend $100 or more. Select styles like leather outerwear, Vintage Black men’s fragrance, Watches, and a few others are exempt from the discount. *Bonus picks: The Regal King for $94.80, or their brand new wool duffel for $150.
.
Florsheim: 20% off site-wide plus free shipping with code BKFY20
Florsheim doesn’t do a ton of discounts, so 20% off site wide is pretty good. *Bonus Pick: Use the code and one of the best looking tough wingtip boots available drops down from $120 to $96.00 shipped. Not bad.
.
French Connection: up to 40% off plus free ground shipping with code FCBFFS
This is for orders over $125. And it says “up to”. So, might not be that great of a deal, but you never know. Sometimes French Connection pieces can be unique enough that they’re worth the plunge.
.
J. Crew Factory: 40% off EVERYTHING. No code necessary, prices as marked.
Could be the biggest deal of Black Friday. J. Crew’s step down brand FACTORY is now available online on the weekends, and they actually let the site go live on Thanksgiving and started offering up the 40% off discount then. *Bonus Pick: How about a merino wool v-neck for under $30.
.
Express: 40% off everything site wide before noon until midnight
Update: As expected, Express.com is having major issues. Looks like they’ll be extending their sale until midnight.
Express tried to launch their 40% off site wide promotion on Thanksgiving. Which promptly caused their website to crash and burn. I’m trying to think of a more bug filled prone to crashing during sales website than Express.com… nope, that’s the worst one in the business. Deals can be had, as long as their site is up and running (you’ll probable see the above image a few times today)
