Dad’s don’t actually like getting gifts. It’s like they’re allergic to being thanked. When asked if they’d like anything for Father’s Day they almost universally say: “Well I don’t need anything.” And that’s precisely why our continuing Father’s Day Gift Guide is full of nothing but “wants.”
All are pretty affordable, all are easy to find, and all will show the Dad you’re buying for that you appreciate him.

The Watch: A Citizen Eco Drive Chronograph for under $200?
The Shave Set: Great looking shave sets are usually expensive. This one is at a solid sale price. You’ve got to love a guy who only goes clean shaven once a month, maybe twice. So when he does, make sure that he enjoys the experience. The ivory colored set is pure classic barber shop, but the razor handle takes Mach 3 blades. So you get all the old time looks with the dependability of a favorite modern razor blade.

The Book: Charles Schulz was complicated, and rarely happy. The author’s research speaks for itself, but what’s really impressive is that David Michaelis allows Schulz to help tell his own life story through artfully placed Peanuts Strips within the text. Schulz pulled much of Peanuts directly from his own life, and when Michaelis describes an experience that had a large impact on “Sparky,” the corresponding Peanuts strip is provided as evidence of the inspiration. Schulz wasn’t Charlie Brown. Schulz was Peanuts.
The CD & DVD: Sure they could sing but the guys in The Rat Pack were funny. Incredibly funny. The CD and DVD are pulled from a 1962 live performance that’s at worst great when the guys are singing, but even better when they’re interrupting each other.

The Pan: Friend of Dappered.com, Executive Chef at The Tavern At Bown Crossing, and all around nice guy Cody Cornwall suggested this one for the Dads who have some culinary skills. Chef Cornwall said: “Lets face it, guys like to cook outdoors. That’s our territory. So why not put the entire meal over the grill with a cold one at your side.” Sounds good to me.
The Chef’s Jacket: Because sometimes you need to use an apron. But aprons don’t look all that cool. Chef’s jackets do look cool. Problem solved.
