J. Crew 25% off $125+ (some exclusions, not as many as usual)

SWEETSALE = 25% off $125+ at J. Crew (exp. 8.15)

So it’s a tiered (or, as the case is here… tier) sale, and it’s north of triple digits. That means most of the picks below will be splurge items. $125 is no small chunk of change. But the good news is that J. Crew has put more of their site up for the code than normal. Is it anywhere near all of the site? Not really. 3rd party is still out. So are most suits and sportcoats and shoes. But there’s more up for this code than usually is the case.

One thing worth noting: Cooling your heels, if you can, for a week or two might pay off mightily. We are really close to seeing the fall lines starting to roll out. Which means anything summery should be shoved into the sale section on major discount at any time now. But the risk in that is missing out on your desired size and color availability. That friends, is the game. Off we go.

Summerweight Cotton/Linen Sportcoat – $112.49 ($168)

FINALLY one of their excellent summerweight sportcoats is made available for a sale or promo code. But it’s just this one. Yep. Just this one striped navy option. The rest are excluded.

Italian Cotton Sportcoat in Ludlow or Crosby Fit – $171 ($228)

This thing first debuted back in 2014 and has since seemingly become one of J. Crew’s flagship pieces for men. And for good reason. Crisp Italian cotton. Lightly constructed. Super easy to wear with everything from summer linen trousers to dark denim. Was just 20% off but the extra 5% cut is more than welcome. Nice to see they’re making these in a Crosby fit now as well.

SLIM Merino V-Neck + Striped Cotton Crew = $103.12 ($137.50)

Not a bad price for two wheelhouse sweaters. Plus, the merino V-neck comes in J. Crew’s much appreciated slimmer silhouette. Not nearly as boxy as regular fit sweaters from them or other brands. For the crew, it’s real tough to not look good in nautical stripes. Gotta go with both here since neither comes close to the $125 code requirement.

Crosby in Med. Charcoal, Marine Blue, Charcoal,  or Navy Worsted – $487.50 ($650)

The good news? It’s a half-canvas, Italian worsted wool suit from J. Crew. The bad news? For some? It’s the Crosby fit, and not the Ludow. Much more accommodating for the strength training crowd compared to the very lean and mean Ludlow. Shown above left is a 40R / 33×30 pant on 5’10” / 185. Full review here. Also shown at the top of the post.

Goodyear Welted Kenton Bucks – $148.50 | Wingtips – $163.50 ($218)

Super versatile shade of grey (looks great both in hot and cold temps w/ hot and cold weather pants). A silhouette that’s trimmer than classic, bulbous bucks. And a Goodyear welt. Not bad for mid $100s. Sure, these were cheaper when they were in the sale section a few weeks back, but they’ve long since disappeared from said sale section (loafers are still there though). Might be quite a while until the lace-ups hit clearance again.

Ludlow Shawl Collar Dinner Jacket in Fiore Cotton – $223.50 ($298)

Full honesty here: If you’re expecting some super-lightweight, breezy, loose weave cotton jacket for sweltering summer nights, you’re gonna be disappointed. It is cotton. It is summer appropriate. But it’s also pretty structured feeling thanks to the substantial fabric. It’s got a really attractive basket weave to it, but bounce and float on the breeze it does not. Still a great looking jacket, but if you’re more of a Crosby body type? Then this thing is gonna feel restrictive. Full review here.

Ludlow Fit in Italian Wool-Linen – $342 ($456)

Combines the summery-ness of linen with the durability, breathability, and wrinkle resistance of wool (probably still gonna wrinkle, but not nearly as bad as a 100% linen suit). And that blueish grey color will stand out, quietly. Just half lined, which is also a plus.

Field Mechanic Jacket – $148.50 ($198)

Garment Dyed. Broken In. Pockets. Lotttttttta pockets. All cotton. Looking forward to the kind of weather one would wear something like this in.

Crosby Fit In Italian Wool – $487.50 ($650)

Yep, the regular Italian wools, in the Crosby fit, are up for this 25% off too. Here’s an explanation of the difference between the fabrics. In my experience (take that for what you will), J. Crew’s worsted options aren’t quite as smooth and silky as their standard Italian wool which is shown above. Yet, the worsted options feel harder wearing. Big fan of the worsted. Looks great, wears great, you can beat the snot out of it. At least, I have.

Ludlow Fit in Irish Linen – $342 ($456)

A wrinkled linen suit (it will wrinkle) appeals to a lot of us who aren’t the super buttoned up type. A summer suit for the non-suit types. One thing though, you’re going to want to get a steamer. Otherwise, it’s dry cleaning/professional pressing every other-ish wear with all linen suits. And that’ll be absolute hell on the construction.

Abingdon Waxed Canvas Weekender – $148.50 ($198)

Extremely well reviewed. And not some dinky thing either. 17 1/2″H x 26″W x 9 1/4″D = over four thousand cubic inches of space. So, it has room.

Ludlow in Houndstooth Italian Linen-Wool – $342 ($456)

Different for sure, but not crazy wild thanks to the small size of each individual houndstooth. Linen-wool blend by Marzotto. Just half lined in the back of the jacket. Seems like this could be a great alternative to wearing seersucker, if you just can’t bring yourself to wear a full seersucker suit. Obviously running out of time to wear it. Might be worth sitting tight to see if/when it hits clearance. Then pounce for next spring.

Wool-Silk Scarf + Web Belt + Suede Belt = $119.62 ($159.50)

The chances that this very particular trio is going to trip one of your triggers is perhaps unlikely. But it’s just an example of what you can do, in the accessories department, to get north of the $125 requirement. That suede belt is made in the USA too. And while it’s pretty fashion-y, I can see more than a few of you (I’ve seen the WIWT thread) pulling off that wool-silk scarf with a suit sans tie.

This 25% off $125+ select goods at J. Crew code SWEETSALE runs through Monday 8/15/16.
