NOTE: No code needed. but… you do have to be an Amazon Prime member to get the deal. Also know that depending on how fast an item is selling, or, if it sells out, Amazon’s robots can often raise or lower the price by a bit. So if something isn’t quite on point price-wise, that might be why.
Amazon’s Prime service has been a game changer for a lot of us. At $99 for a one-year subscription (or, $10.99 a month for a month to month sign up)
Free, two day shipping from Amazon is huge. It has drastically reduced the amount of trips many of us used to make to big box stores (say, for, protein powder, or post-it notes, or AA batteries, or running shoes, or an adjustable monitor arm or… you get the idea.) And while Amazon still struggles a bit in the style department, they do carry plenty of watches, shoes, and other basic clothes/accessories guys with a good sense of style may take a shine to. And in celebration of their birthday, Amazon is knocking 30% off a lot of those goods. Picks are below. remember, you need to have a Prime membership to get the discount.
Forty bucks for this thing just seems… criminal. Small package at just 36mm in diameter. Even smaller price thanks to the prime deal. Legendary watch. Aviation inspired. Powered by a tough, inexpensive, Seiko 5 automatic movement. Exhibition caseback. Available in multiple color/strap combos with the blue option also being up for the prime deal.
Spendy? Yes. But good gravy is it something in person. And the price it’s now at, thanks to the 30% off, is beyond nice. One of those watches that’s gonna look just as impressive in 30 years as it does now. Complete class. Big fan of the just-different-enough seconds hand that’s been offset at 8 o’clock. Full retail is almost $1300 if you buy direct from Hamilton. 42mm case diameter. Onion-style crown and date window at 3 o’clock. Razor sharp hands. Extremely versatile. An heirloom to pass on. UPDATE: Amazon has moved the price up to $775 on this thing, which now puts it at $542.50. Still, not a bad price for this watch.
A laid back summer shoe with just enough cushioning. Salt wash finish gives them that old-favorite (yet not worn out) look right out of the box. Classic preppy basics.
Budget double monks that don’t look like crap. Many a man has purchased and worn to death a pair of Florsheims in his lifetime. To the average fella walking down the street, they’re decent quality. To those who spend more time than average on their style, they’re dependable. Not amazing. But Florsheim has been around for a while for a reason. Leather isn’t amazing, but the shape certainly works and they should hold up well enough. Fit seems true. A 10.5 fit my feet like most 10.5 D shoes do. Made the annual list of best dress shoes under $200.
For the truly slim dudes. Does have a bit of stretch to the fabric, but if you’ve got some real solid meat on your legs, then these are gonna be a squeeze (or, flat out impossible) to get into.
The extremely successful chrono version of the Timex weekender slip-thru series. Also comes with a leather (albeit not the most impressive leather) band on this particular option.
Speaking of the original weekender… The watch that helped lead a nice resurgence of Timex in terms of stylish popularity. This is the model that makes a louder than average “tick” though. Not all color/strap combos are up for the 30% off.
Under $400 for an automatic chronograph is almost unheard of. Takes a lot to make a chronograph that isn’t a quartz. And this one is a stunner. Shades of an IWC Portuguese. 42.5mm case size means it’s perfectly wearable for most. Honestly kinda surprised this thing made it into the 30% off prime deals section for today.
Thirty five bucks for a pair of Levi’s, shipped fast and free from Amazon, is a mighty fine bit of commerce. Wash color is up to you of course, but it’s hard to go wrong with the classic, dark, “tumbled rigid” (shown in the middle) or “the rich” (shown at right).
A classic, Made in the USA, stunningly good looking yet super-tough boot for the cool and cold months. Same company that J. Crew collaborates with every once in a while. $145? Can’t remember these going for that low in a good long while. If ever. Exact price depends on what size/color combo you’re after.
It’s not a super intricate machine, and you won’t get large amounts of data from it, but it does the tracking job while still looking like a decent wrist watch. Other activity trackers look too space-age for plenty. More info on this thing can be found here.
Slim fit, terrific retro styling, and difficult to find on sale. One of those classic bits of menswear that’ll always be eye-catching, yet never go out of style. One warning: These can be a bit finicky in the wash, and are a shrinkage risk.
German brand, Japanese automatic, and classic aviation looks. If memory serves, these were stuck closer to $300 for a quite a while? I think? The other, more complicated looking model is priced where they normally sit at. But that one is also up for the 30% off discount.
A classic weekend beater watch. 50m water resistance mean’s it’s not terribly fragile (and if water does end up in the case, hey… it was $24). The green canvas strap should help keep sweat and stink at bay, and frankly… it looks pretty good. Especially for twenty four bucks.
Once upon a time these were a well kept secret. Not anymore. Made in the USA from USA sourced leather, they’re flat out awesome. And don’t shy away from the lined option. That lining is a very thin, not itchy at all, bit of wool. Perfect for regulating temperature and wicking moisture. Amazon is listing the sizes as only available in a “B” width? That seems awfully narrow/strange. Maybe a mistake? At least returns are easy.
Made in the USA and not the usual, classic Pilot/Aviator style. A little different. More like a Ray-Ban caravan. And black frames don’t get nearly enough love. Chromed out, reflective frames can look like face jewelry. Black is no-nonsense.
Usually goes for around $400. $305? That’s a really nice price cut. Uncluttered with a nostalgic logo, the Visodate was originally created to celebrate Tissot’s 100th anniversary back in the 1950s. Case size is 40mm, which is as timeless as it comes (it’s the watch dial version of a 2.75″ or 3″ tie). Sapphire crystal with an exhibition case back. Also pictured at the top of the post. Also up for 30% off in a black on black scheme.
Huge fan of this design. Solid colored swims shorts with throw-back piping. Mesh liner inside to keep the pieces and the parts from making a run for it. No diaper-like elastic waist, but instead a cinch-able string waist.
You want grip? You got grip here. As sticky as a sole can get without slathering pine tar on it. Plus, you get that great, British Tan leather upper and the wingtip details. A solid, smart-casual shoe that’s been kicking around for years and years. 142 reviews on Amazon, 4/5 stars.
Amazon’s “Prime” day ends today, 7/12/16. And the deals aren’t just on clothes of course. Expect this list to probably be updated as the day wears on (there’s a TON of stock to get through… still efforting that). Got a tip on something that’s up for the extra 30% off Prime Day discount? Send those into joe@dappered.com
