What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Baseball is synonymous with warm weather. It’s not typically synonymous with high style. But that doesn’t mean a guy can’t look smart while casual and comfortable. If you’re planning on attending an MLB or minor league game this summer, here’s some suggestions on how to keep it stylish, without looking like you’re trying too hard.
The Shirt: JCF Factory Slim Cotton Linen Shirt – $38.50 ($69.50). Favoring a short sleeve button down instead of a t-shirt. This shirt is a linen cotton blend to keep things on the cool side, and won’t look overly pressed or dressed up. If you’re concerned about sun exposure, you can always go with a long sleeved shirt and roll up the sleeves if needed.
The Shorts: ON Ultimate Slim Fit Linen Blend Shorts – $14.70 ($28). Yep, got some linen in the shorts here too. Hey, it’s summer. It’s hot. Breathable fabric is a necessity, especially when you’re spending multiple hours outdoors, as is typical at a ball game. Currently an extra 30% off the sale price at checkout, no code needed, but it expires today (6/22.)
The Watch: Timex Expedition Acadia Watch w/ Blue Face – $35. Dependable, and a nylon band that should wear more comfortably in the heat. One of the great things about baseball is that it’s a great way to check out and loose track of time, so no need for anything other than a basic timepiece here, just in case you do need to track time for some reason.
The Sunglasses: Cole Haan Polarized – $29.97. A lighter lens, light framed pair for the summer. 57mm bridge makes these lean a little closer to the larger end of the scale, and with the squared off shape you don’t get the droop typically associated with traditional aviators. Ships from Nordstrom Rack.
The Belt: The Tie Bar Braided Belt in Navy – $25. With the beloved Jomers “Sagamore” being perpetually sold out, this is another affordable option in the woven belt market.
The Shoes: Sperry Top-Sider Striper LTT in White – $60. Good looking, comfortable, classics. They feature a cushioned foot bed and tongue to keep your dogs feeling good.
The Ball Cap: Ebbets Field Flannels Classic Ball Cap – $45. If you’re a fan of the game, you likely already have a cap or two in homage to your team. But if you’re in the market for a ball cap with more general appeal, Ebbets Field Flannels has some retro inspired options. They are a heavy wool though, so if it’s gonna be blistering hot, despite wool’s breathable properties, you might want to go with something lighter in weight.
The Wallet: Holtz Leather Co. ‘The Babe’ Front Pocket Wallet – $36. If you’re sitting on your backside for several hours on a hard seat, which tends to happen at baseball games, a fat wallet in your back pocket won’t be too comfortable. Even if you do carry this leather wallet in your back pocket, it’s slim enough that you won’t be able to cram to much into it, ala George Costanza. But there’s enough room for a few cards and some cash. The wallet can even be personalized if you like.
