J. Crew Factory prices are always a moving target. They’ve got the highest “valued at” price, and then items are almost always on “sale” with extra codes knocking more off the bottom line price. But with this particular sale, adding the extra 35% off (or 40% off if it’s clearance) PLUS an extra five bucks in savings thanks to free shipping, gets you around half off, if not perhaps a little bit more depending on the item.
Translation = It’s a solid sale. Especially now that we’ve hit the hot months and many of us are looking to supplement the warm weather wardrobe quickly, and inexpensively. Code REFRESHING ends today, 6/6/16. Suiting is excluded of course, but sportcoats and the rest seem to be up for the discount. Off we go with some picks…
Perhaps one of the stars of this sale-show. Sutton = slim-straight, Driggs = true slim. These are in the clearance section, super marked down, and are cut from oxford cloth. Perfect for summer. $18 shipped? Fear not that green.
Need shorts? Excellent. $18 shipped isn’t bad at all. Linen cotton blend option comes with an almost glen plaid (but not quite) type of pattern, and a shorter not not TOO short 9″ inseam. Cotton pair is a micro-grid print, 11″ inseam short. Both are final sale since they’re in the clearance section.
Not sure how I (or you guys) are gonna feel about this thing. It’s a linen/cotton blend, so it has a sorta flecked appearance to the fabric, and that navy on white (or light blue) weave sorta gets it close to Dad-jeans territory. In shade? Maybe? Or, maybe not. Really well reviewed. Might look awesome with white chinos, a white shirt, and suede loafers in the dead of summer. Just partially lined, so it has that going for it too.
You’ve seen em’ before, you’ll see em’ again. The weight of the fabric really is perfect for warm and/or hot weather. Not a thick, stiff, chino. Almost shirt weight but not see-through or anything. Sizes are scattered depending on what color you pick, and there’s plenty of colors to pick from. Really nice price considering they ship for free too. Also available in the more generous Bleecker fit or the true slim Driggs fit.
Remember that “moving target” bit in the opening paragraph of this post? Right. So here, these shirts aren’t the best deal, but they’re not bad. They’re “on sale” for just ten bucks off. Not great. But the 35% off drops them to under forty, and then you are also saving five bucks when it comes to the free shipping offer. Not bad, not amazing. At least they got em’ in their slimmer fit.
If you’re afraid of polka dots, have no fear. The “dots” on this jacket are more like a micro grid, since the fabric is a square weave instead of circular print. Much more subtle and less wacky-jacket-guy. More structured than their partially lined linen/cotton sportcoat. A bit crisper, but not stiff. Fully lined in acetate. Shown above is a 40R on 5’10” / 190.
Hey look. Shirts. Versatile, washed poplin shirts in a spring/summer ready color scheme on each. And a button down collar so the points won’t fly away under a casual sportcoat. But yes. They are shirts. Nice price. Not much more to say.
Got an understandable two-star review because according to the reviewer, they didn’t match the jacket. Yes, these are Thompson suit pants, and they were at one point being sold with a chambray jacket to match. And they didn’t. Match that is. But they can make a terrific, stand alone, warm weather dress pant. You could probably even pull these off with white sneakers and a plain, trim fit polo. Final sale since they’re in the clearance section.
Perfect for wearing now, and layering under sweaters when autumn rolls around. Pretty sure this has been mentioned already, but the free shipping no min. offer that runs through today really helps here.
So unconstructed that it’s more shirt than jacket. Identical to the ultra-light navy sportcoat from last year. And it’ll need a lot of steaming or some careful ironing out of the box/bag. it shows up super wrinkled and folded. But if you’re the type who wouldn’t mind an ultra-light jacket for blistering hot days? Then here it is.
The alternative to wearing a polo. And yes you can wear them untucked. Should look great with lightweight chinos and some sneakers or boat shoes. Nice to see them making an option in their slimmer fit. UPDATE: Well dang. These are an odd exclusion. Turns out they’re a “Factory Find” and thus, don’t get the cut. Apologies for that. Thanks to Collin M. for the tip!
Interesting. Didn’t know that JCF was making basic, chino shorts, with a little elastane in the mix for extra comfort/flexibility. This is one of those items that gets extra tempting being that they’re inexpensive, and they ship for free. (Yes! These too! AMAZING!) So you don’t have to leave the keyboard and drive somewhere.
Just like big brother J. Crew’s braided belts (so, they’re stretchy but not overly so), only here in a neutral shade. 1.25″ wide.
