Brooks Brothers Semi-Annual Sale

Brooks Brothers Semi Annual Sale 2016 Picks for Men

A little bit bulk-buy sale, a little bit clearance, a little bit throwing their customers an almost site-wide-sale bone. The Brooks Brothers semi-annual sale is a little bit of everything, with a lot of inventory. Some things are worth it (sportcoats, stocking up on shirts, shoes, red fleece stuff if that’s your thing), while other categories aren’t the best deal (much of their casual wear, suits considering the most recent 40% off sale, and their clearance section which doesn’t appear to be getting additional mark downs). But if you’ve got Brooks Brothers tastes, while on a J. Crew Factory Budget, then it’s worth a browse. Quick picks below. Sizing can be a bit scattered depending on what you’re going for, since it appears this semi-annual sale is an attempt to make room for the upcoming fall goods.

4 Regent Fit Non-Iron Dress Shirts – $55.20 / per (reg. $92 per)

That’s still $220. So, not a small spend, but some fellas swear by Brooks Brothers non-iron shirts. Normally $92 a piece. Lots of options to pick from.

Fitz. Fit Italian Cotton/Linen Fabric Sportcoat – $268.80 ($448)

A basic warm weather piece in some not so basic colors. Fabric is woven in Italy. Soft construction, and has just a partial, yoke-style lining in the back. Sure it’s a bit risky, but that green would look good with many a shade of lightweight, summer ready pants, and then why not with dark denim when the fall rolls around?

Red Fleece Grey Suede Sneakers – $73.50 ($98)

Suede kicks for less than high-end designers would charge. Basic looks, with a do-anything, wear with whatever, medium grey suede. White soles. Red Brooks Brothers logo at the heel. From their younger leaning line.

Fitzgerald Fit Striped Linen Sportcoat – $268.80 ($448)

A full 40% off. Featured in the best sportcoats of the spring/summer round up. Terrific Italian Linen and extremely soft construction. Stripes look wider in person/up close. Easy to tailor non-functioning sleeve buttons with zero accent stitching around them. It does wrinkle easily, but it’s all linen. That’s to be expected. Size shown here is an unaltered 40R.

Allen Edmonds Single Monks w/ Rubber Sole – $321 ($428)

Over a hundred bucks off. Still not cheap, but they are something else in person. Almost identical to AE’s Warwick single monk, only with a slightly different insole and a thin rubber sole for grip. Available in walnut, black, or a dark-red shade. Hard to find marked down, unless you go the 2nds quality route. Full review of the Warwick can be found here.

Pebble Leather Driving Mocs – $126 ($168)

Getting up there in price for driving mocs, but the texture of the pebbled leather plus those blue laces sure do look good together. Meanwhile, these have acquired quite a few, very complimentary reviews. Especially on comfort. And that’s something, being that driving mocs are usually pretty flat/not so squishy or comfortable.

Red Fleece Cotton Nautical Stripe Shawl Neck – $49.25 ($98)

So, it has one review. A one star. And it says: “In terms of fit and style, this sweater gets an “A”…unfortunately I had to return it because of a glaring flaw in the stitching in the shawl neck. Maybe next time BB.”  The condescension is palpable. And here’s the thing, what are the chances that this guy thinks the “glaring flaw” in the shawl neck’s stitching is actually the loops on the shawl neck for the buttons to slip through in order to keep wind/weather out? Those are supposed to be there. And even if that’s not the case, a one-star review? For a defect? Shit happens son. Relax. Size shown above is a medium.

Allen Edmonds Medallion Cap Toes w/ Rubber Sole – $321 ($428)

Pretty much Strands. Available in a bunch of widths too. Sizes are a bit scattered in the regular brown, but there seems to be plenty of walnut and black.

Made in Italy Single Monk Straps – $336 ($448)

Sleek, slim soled single monks. Not sure how they’re welted. Maybe a blake stitch? Only available in brown. Reviews are a bit all over the place on these things.

Superga Cotu Classic Canvas Sneakers – $48.75 ($65)

The well loved, oddly comfortable, strangely durable white canvas sneakers that get lots of play around these parts. Examples of outfits to wear them with can be found over here.

Allen Edmonds for Brooks Brothers Cap-Toes – $321 ($428)

Pretty much the Park Ave. Only here, you get a rubber sole with some tread (while still remaining slim). Some will consider that extra grip well worth the bit of an up-charge that BB hits you with at retail. Conservative for sure, but timeless.

BB#1 Stripe Ribbon Belt – $36.50 ($48)

Doesn’t get much more classic summertime prep than this. Red, white, and navy, with a silver tone buckle. It’s a ribbon belt, so it may slip a bit as the day wears on, but I’ve got one in a different color scheme from a few years back and it seems to slip less than competing, cheaper ribbon belts.

Brooks Brothers Navigator or Rect. Sunglasses – $71.25 ($95)

Nice striped accents and decently placed branding. And hits that sweet spot of not luxury designer shades, yet not gas station beaters either. Navigator is in this year’s best sunglasses for under $100 post.

Out of Season Fitz. Fit Sportcoats in Plaid or Red Tartan – $298.80 ($498)

Three bills is a lot to drop on something you won’t be able to wear, comfortably, for a few months (at least). But goodness. They sure do look mighty fine. Italian fabrics. Fitzgerald fit. The Red Tartan appears to be just partially lined. The blue plaid is fully lined.

The Brooks Brothers Semi-Annual Sale is set to expire Tuesday, June 28th 2016.
