Style Poll: The new Canvas by Lands’ End “Circle” Membership

This seems like a reach.

Looks like we have our answer as to whether or not Lands’ End will eventually offer discounts on their newly (re)launched, younger leaning/higher style “Canvas” line. And that answer is yes. They will.

As long as you shell out fifty bucks on the front end:

That’s what you get for fifty bucks. But the thing is, LE offers free shipping at $50 as it is (returns are $6.95), and the free shipping with the “Circle” membership is not an Amazon Prime like 2-day or other expedited service. Just regular, standard shipping. Meanwhile, the “Legendary Lands’ End Customer Service” seems to be, well, what you already get as a normal every day customer. And to break even on that $50 investment, you’d have to spend at least $250 on regular priced Canvas stuff (20% off $250 = $50, which equals the membership fee), or, $500 on on-sale Canvas stuff. Or, a combination of that.

Yes, a year is a long time, but Canvas by Lands’ End JUST relaunched. And their selection, at least on the guy’s side, seems pretty limited compared to their competition. Maybe if they had built up some solid brand loyalty to their Canvas line. Maybe a company like Bonobos could get away with this. But a subset of the greater Lands’ End brand? Asking their customers to shell out a Grant to get access to 20% off? Doesn’t that seem a little… presumptuous? Or, is this a nice option in your mind? Cast your vote below.
