Brooks Brothers: 40% off Suits, Sportcoats + Clearance Event

Brooks Bros. 40% off Suits, Sportcoats, + Online Clearance Event

Surprise?

This… is highly unusual. Yes, we’ve seen a drastic drop in prices for their online clearance section before. But a whopping 40% off suits and sportcoats at Brooks Brothers is NOT something that happens often. In fact, if memory serves, they might only do this one other day a year? That’d be during their “5 days of giving” promotion during the holidays? And even then, it’s just a single day. But this launched quietly, at the tail end of last week, and runs through Tuesday 5/17.

Yes, for many of us, it’s still plenty expensive. But the online clearance deals are where those on a serious budget can make some hay. Otherwise, if you’re a white-collar type, don’t balk at the $600 price tag on their 1818 suits. They’re built to last, and many swear by em’. Also, if you jumped on a suit or sportcoat during their most recent F&F deal, and now the prices are much lower? Might want to call customer service or drop into a brick & mortar to see if you can get a price adjustment.

Fitzgerald Fit 1818 Wool Suits – $598.80 ($998)

Their flagship. Super 110s Italian wool, Made in the USA or Italy, half canvas, and plenty of attention to detail. For the guys out there who are in suits day in and day out and need something that won’t be too flashy, but still hold up. You can even have em’ hem the pants for free before it ships. Not bad. Their Fitzgerald Fit is a bit of a legend. Not too tight, but not billowy on most average frames either.

Fitzgerald Fit Twill Suit – $358.80 ($598)

It is wedding season after all. Pure cotton twill that’s been woven in Italy. Half lined. Not as breezy as a linen or a tropical wool, but still very much ready for a warm weather fancy-pants gathering.

Fitzgerald Fit Striped Linen Sportcoat – $268.80 ($448)

Here’s an example of how good of a deal this sale happens to be. Originally $448 and featured in the best sportcoats of the spring/summer round up. Then dropped by 25% to $336 during their latest Friends and Family sale. Now? It’s under $270. That’s a much friendlier price compared to the previous two options. Terrific Italian Linen and extremely soft construction. Stripes look wider in person/up close. Easy to tailor non-functioning sleeve buttons with zero accent stitching around them. It does wrinkle easily, but it’s all linen. That’s to be expected. Size shown here is an unaltered 40R.

Fitz. Fit BrooksCool Full Canvas Suit – $418.80 ($698)

Yep, full canvas. It’s a wool/poly blend though, yet that blend has been specifically engineered to be lighter in weight and breathe better. Now, it just doesn’t feel as good in the hands as high quality wools, but in the end you get a full canvas, very durable feeling suit for a price you’d be tough to replicate full-canvas at anywhere else. Also available in grey.

Fitz. Fit Italian Cotton/Linen Fabric Sportcoat – $268.80 ($448)

A basic warm weather piece in some not so basic colors. (Not shown above is the orange and green option… green? Maybe. Orange? Probably not.) But that medium to lighter blue might find its way into a few rotations over the next few months. Fabric is woven in Italy.

Fitzgerald Fit Grey/Ivory Seersucker Suit ‘ $358.80 ($598)

Derby day is done and gone, but there’s plenty of heat coming between now and sweater weather. Big fan of the more subtle grey/white seersucker look, as opposed to the classic blue and white.

Fitzgerald Fit Linen Jacket + Trousers = $436.00 ($616)

Not a wildly good deal compared to the others, simply because these are sold as suit separates. The jacket gets the 40% cut (and would do just fine on its own as a sportcoat) but the trousers are still full price. Italian linen. Super soft construction.

Fitzgerald Fit Check Half-lined Sportcoat – $298.80 ($498)

Very much out of season, but when we get back to fall? Really nice that it’s got just a butterfly yoke lining at the back. That helps when you walk into a weirdly warm room after being in a crisp, outdoor, perfect autumn world. Which, again, we’re not close to seeing for months and months… but still. It’s a nice idea. Wool/Nylon blend.

AND NOW ONTO THE CLEARANCE EVENT…

Which means even bigger discounts than the 40% off that suits and sportcoats are getting. Sizes can be a bit scattered here. Just know that. Also know that prices seems to skyrocket back up on most items after the event expires (5/16)

Italian Made Fitz. Fit Soft Construction Sportcoat – $269.40 ($898)

Not a bad price for a wool sportcoat that’s made in Italy. Made from an ultra lightweight wool and just half-lined. A year-round sportcoat that would look awesome with white chinos this summer, as well as with dark denim in the fall. 40R available at post time among other odd sizes.

Allen Edmonds Suede Wingtips – $178.80 ($298)

As casual as a pair of wingtips can get. Would do just fine with a summer suit, as well as up against dark wash denim. Made in the USA. Goodyear welted. Unlined interior so there’s less stiffness/structure. Pretty sure these are the Neumok?

Lambswool Quilted Jacket – $119.90 ($398)

Now with many, many more sizes available via Brooks Brothers than the last go-round. (UPDATE: They had small and medium, but looks like those are gone now?) Was four hundred bucks. Now $120. Italian flannel front panels. Quilted Lambswool. A luxury casual jacket now at a much, much friendlier price.

Horween Suede Driving Mocs – $100.80 ($168)

Driving mocs are a really nice summer shoe (as long as you’re not walking long distances, they’re made for lounging or working a clutch… not hiking). Cut from Horween Suede. Classic low profile shape with heel grip.

Fitz. Fit Linen/Cotton Chambray Dress Trousers – $44.40 ($148)

Italian Linen/Cotton Fabric. Slimmer but not tight fit. Should do well with plain polos and summerweight sportcoats. Dressier, thanks to that crease down the front of each leg, but chambray, especially with the texture of being a linen blend, should be easy to dress down too.

Made in Italy Windowpane Linen Sportcoat – $329.40 ($1098)

From one of their upgraded lines. Started at almost eleven hundred dollars, has hit the clearance section, and now gets an extra generous cut through Monday. Minimal lining. Cuffs that are unfinished and ready to be customized by a tailor. Reviews say it may run a bit trimmer than other BB silhouettes.

Pebble Leather Driving Mocs – $100.80 ($168)

Another driving moc option. Soft pebbled leather with a preppy grosgrain strip across the top. Don’t sleep on the navy option. Navy drivers look real sharp during the warm weather months. Don’t worry about matching your belt to these things.

Harris Tweed Cardigan – $89.40 ($298)

I’m a take your grandpa’s style… Out of season for sure. And not for everyone. But a certain look could pull this off without looking like you’re trying to get your AARP card early. Harris Tweed chest panels, lambswool arms + back, and Italian horn buttons.

Stretch Donegal Belt – $31.20 ($78)

Donegal wool in summer? Sure. Why not? It’s got those familiar flecks that come with Donegal wool, but it’s still a mixed-media fabric belt. And that grey would be a nice way to brighten up a pair of dark jeans on days cool enough to wear denim.

Mini-Check Wool/Silk Pocket Square – $14.00 ($28)

Printed in Italy with a mini-check base and a solid grey border. Wool/Silk blend.

Contrast Chest Stripe Crewneck Sweater – $75.60 ($108)

Spendy for a cotton sweater, but that teal chest stripe looks great. 5-gauge, slub-cotton knit, so there should be a little extra texture there compared to other cotton sweaters. Inspired by vintage beach sweaters.

Fitzgerald Fit Italian Linen Sportcoat – $149.90 ($498)

Not for those who prefer subtle patterns or solids. But the price is terrific. Half lined. Linen is woven in Italy. Takes some style onions to pull off.

Blackwatch Quilted Cotton Vest – $119.20 ($298)

Out of season (or, almost out of season) but it’s cotton and not a heavy/itchy wool. Zip & snap front placket. Couple of pockets for stashing stuff. Terrific Blackwatch pattern. All sizes available.

Non-Iron BrooksCool Double Stripe Button Down – $49.00 ($92)

A nice, do-anything button down shirt. Great collar roll. BrooksCool fabric is lighter in weight and engineered to breathe better than their normal fabrics. Double stripes are subtle enough and not overly loud. A few different color combos to pick from. Regent fit is closer to the body without being tight.

Knit Ties: Silk, Wool, Bold Stripe Silk, Wide Stripe Silk – $39.75 ($79.50)

Summer wedding season is here. So something in a textured knit would do just fine for one of those events. Fabrics made in Italy for all of these ties.

Linen Herringbone Vest – $59.40 ($198)

Waistcoats ain’t for everyone. But it is one way to keep your torso lines nice and clean, without the extra sleeves that a sportcoat/blazer can bring. Now, that said, if you’re going for some serious, advanced men’s style stuff, you can pair this with a contrasting sportcoat for a Gatsby sorta look. Interesting reviews. Wondering if when the item was first posted, a different pic was put up? Really glad that they went with a cotton-blend back, instead of the usual silk/poly shiny back most waistcoats come with.

Fitzgerald Fit Wool Green/White Check Sport Coat – $149.40 ($498)

Another spring-ready sportcoat, only this time it’s in a lightweight wool instead of cotton or linen. Fitzgerald fit. Not sure if it’s fully lined or half lined? Reviewers seem to indicate that it leans a little less contrast-y in person. More cream and forest green than white and leafy green.

The Online Clearance event ends Monday 5/16, while the 40% off Suits/Sportcoats deal ends Tuesday 5/17.
