Brooks Brothers 25% off Friends & Family May 2016

Brooks Brothers: 25% off Friends & Family Sale (no code needed)

Brooks Brothers sure has been feeling generous lately. Fresh off the heels of a surprisingly solid online-clearance event, they’re now offering up 25% off almost entirely site wide. No code necessary this time, with the discount happening at checkout. Exclusions include some shoes, some watches, and made to measure stuff. But other than that? It all seems fair game. And considering the length and breadth of their inventory, that’s not a half bad deal.

Both the regular and sale sections have been combed over for this one. But remember, this is Brooks Brothers. So even with 25% off, most of these picks are pretty spendy. Off we go.

UPDATE: Many thanks to James Y. and Cameron P. for the heads up on how Brooks Brothers is also running an E-Gift Card promo. Buy a $150 E-Gift card, and get a $25 E-Gift card for free, instantly. And you can buy up to FIVE of theses things. So for bigger purchases, you can save $25, $50, $75 or more on top of the prices listed below. Word is they get sent instantly to your email. So you gotta play the game, but it’s not like you have to wait around long. Thanks again to those guys!

Filson Original Twill Briefcase in Tan, Navy, or Black – $243.75 ($325)

So this is strange. Brooks Brothers, for some reason, has jacked up the price on Filson’s Original Briefcase. By a ton. Filson? They’re selling the thing for $265. And Brooks Brothers is selling it for $325 retail? Might be worth a call to customer service to see if you can get a price match and then have the discount applied. And if not, consider the more padded, “Computer Briefcase” option, which is oddly cheaper. UPDATE: So, for example, if you were to use the gift-card promo, you’d buy a $150 e-gift card, and get an extra $25 e-gift card for free. Then you can use that $175 towards the bag, and the price effectively drops another twenty five bucks.

Fitzgerald Fit Striped Linen Sportcoat – $336 ($448)

Just featured in the best sportcoats of the spring/summer round up. Terrific Italian Linen and extremely soft construction. Stripes look wider in person/up close. Easy to tailor non-functioning sleeve buttons with zero accent stitching around them. It does wrinkle easily, but it’s all linen. That’s to be expected. Size shown here is an unaltered 40R. UPDATE: And, for another gift card example, here you’d buy TWO $150 gift cards, get $50 in free gift cards, and the price would be down to $300 here (with an extra fourteen bucks on your gift cards to spend how you’d like, or… not.)

Allen Edmonds Single Monks w/ Rubber Sole – $321 ($428)

Almost identical to AE’s Warwick single monk, only with a slightly different insole and a thin rubber sole for grip. Available in walnut, black, or a dark-red shade. Hard to find marked down, unless you go the 2nds quality route. Full review of the Warwick can be found here.

Fitzgerald Fit Grey/Ivory Seersucker Suit – $373.50 ($498)

A little late to get it in house and tailored for the Derby, but there’s plenty of heat coming between now and sweater weather. Big fan of the more subtle grey/white seersucker look, as opposed to the classic blue and white.

Fitzgerald Fit BrooksCool Blue Plaid Suit – $523.50 ($698)

Speaking of the heat to come, “BrooksCool” is a wool/poly blend that’s been engineered to breathe better and feel lighter than most. Full canvas construction on this thing, with just a half lining in the back.

Pebble Leather Driving Mocs – $126 ($168)

Getting up there in price for driving mocs, but the texture of the pebbled leather plus those blue laces sure do look good together. Meanwhile, these have acquired quite a few, very complimentary reviews. Especially on comfort. And that’s something, being that driving mocs are usually pretty flat/not so squishy or comfortable.

4 Regent Fit Non-Iron Dress Shirts – $207 / $51.75 per (reg. $92 per)

Normally $92 a piece, many guys swear by the Brooks Brothers non-iron dress shirts. Here’s how we get to this price. You have to buy four to knock 25% off the top. Then? An extra 25% comes off at checkout. That drops the price, as long as you buy four (which, understandably, is a lot for some) to $51.75 a shirt. Lots of options to pick from.

Non-Iron Regent Fit Gingham or Windowpane Sport Shirt – $51.75 ($98)

Looks like this 25% off F&F discount is stacking with their other offers, not just the clearance section and dress shirt Multi-buys. Brooks Brothers is running an (extremely) limited select items spring sale, and these button down sport shirts are in there at $69. The extra 25% comes off, and while fifty bucks for a button down sure is pushing it for a lot of us, they do have that awesome Brooks Brothers collar roll.

Allen Edmonds Medallion Cap Toes w/ Rubber Sole – $321 ($428)

Pretty much Strands. Available in a bunch of widths too. Sizes are a bit scattered in the regular brown, but there seems to be plenty of walnut and black.

Filson Medium Duffel – $243.75 ($325)

There seems to be a bit of a discrepency between the “Medium” duffel that Brooks Brothers sells, and the one that Filson now sells direct. This one is  25″ x 14″ x 13″, while the option being sold through Filson is a smaller, 20″ W x 13″ H x 12″ D. Guessing Filson has sized down their bag to meet carry on requirements?

Black Fleece Automatic Watch – $191.25 ($850)

The fact that they were asking $850 for this thing is… something. Now buried in the sale section at $255, it drops to under two bills with the F&F discount. 41.6mm case diameter. Automatic movement is by Seiko. No word if it hacks or hand winds.

Made in Italy Single Monk Straps – $336 ($448)

Goodness gracious. Sleek, slim soled single monks. Not sure how they’re welted. Maybe a blake stitch? You can have em’ in any color you want, as long as it’s brown.

Fitzgerald Fit Linen Jacket + Trousers = $462.00 ($616)

Odd that Brooks Brothers is selling these as separates (they usually do nested pairs for suiting), but that does appear to be the case. Italian linen. Super soft construction.

Superga Cotu Classic Canvas Sneakers – $48.75 ($65)

The well loved, oddly comfortable, strangely durable white canvas sneakers that get lots of play around these parts. Stand by for a how-to-wear-it White Sneakers post in the not too distant future..

Suede Made in the USA Boots – $426 ($568)

Not in season. But still. Goodness, those are something. Probably made by Alden, and looks like a dead ringer for the suede boots Alden used to make for J. Crew a year or two back. Crepe sole. Made in the USA. One day boots. One day.

Filson Navy Tin Cloth Brief – $298.50 ($398)

Has a bit of a different look to it compared to the original brief, thanks to that waterproof finish. Brooks Brothers Madras pattern on the interior since it’s an exclusive to Brooks Brothers.

Allen Edmonds for Brooks Brothers Cap-Toes – $321 ($428)

Pretty much the Park Ave. Only here, you get a rubber sole with some tread (while still remaining slim). Some will consider that extra grip well worth the bit of an upcharge that BB hits you with at retail. Conservative for sure, but timeless.

Kiel James Patrick Made in the USA Belt – $44.25 ($118)

Certainly a more warm-weather appropriate belt. And hyper preppy. But made in the USA and high quality. Already on sale.

Red Wing 9016 Cigar Featherstone – $262.50 ($350)

Again, not in season, but… beautiful boots that look even better once you beat them up. Made in the USA of course. Goodyear welt too.

Brooks Brothers Navigator or Rect. Sunglasses – $71.25 ($95)

Most (all?) Brooks Brothers brand sunglasses are made in China, and while the quality isn’t mind blowing, they’re sturdy enough for the style that they bring. Nice striped accents and decently placed branding. And hits that sweet spot of not luxury designer shades, yet not gas station beaters either.

Allen Edmonds Suede Wingtips – $167.72 ($298)

One of the few items in the clearance section that’s actually cheaper now, with this sale, than it was during that recent online clearance event (most sale stuff is MUCH more expensive now, even with the F&F deal). As casual as a pair of wingtips can get. Would do just fine with a summer suit, as well as up against dark wash denim. Made in the USA. Goodyear welted. Unlined interior so there’s less stiffness/structure. Pretty sure these are the Neumok?

The Brooks Brothers Friends & Family sale runs through Sunday, 5/8/16.
