Brooks Bros Online Clearance Event (expires today, 4/25)
Here’s the deal with these online clearance events. If memory serves, they slash prices on stuff that’s already in their sale section for a limited time. Once that time is up? Those prices return to where they were. Again, if memory serves. Pretty sure that’s what happened last time when they ran an online clearance. So that’s the good news. If you just don’t have the budget for Brooks Brothers, these are opportunities for you to get your hands on some of their goods for much, much cheaper (say, sportcoats in the mid $100s instead of the regular sale prices of around $200 – $250).
The bad news is that their sale section is 46 pages long. So browsing = pain in the butt. And that’s where we come in. If this website is nothing else, it is an apparatus to help prevent tuchus discomfort for our readership. Selected picks from all 46 of those pages are below. AND… it just so happens that the flash sale site, Rue La La, is running a Brooks Brothers event right now. So selected picks from that sale are sprinkled in as well.
Made from an ultra lightweight wool and just half-lined. A year-round sportcoat that would look awesome with white chinos this summer, as well as with dark denim in the fall. Not a bad price for a wool sportcoat that’s made in Italy.
Just half lined so it should do well with the hotter temps on the way. Cotton/Linen fabric is from Italy. Lots of sizes left at post time. Would look terrific up against some grey chinos for a warm-weather patio happy hour.
As casual as a pair of wingtips can get. Would do just fine with a summer suit, as well as up against dark wash denim. Made in the USA. Goodyear welted. Unlined interior so there’s less stiffness/structure. Pretty sure these are the Neumok?
Cotton Shawl Collar Cardigan – $89.99 via Rue La La ($198)
Ahoy. Sea Captain style for around your place. Also on sale at Brooks Brothers, but they’ve got this thing priced at $148.50. A nice, year-round extra layer to have on hand for unexpected temperature dips.
Was four hundred bucks. Now $120. Italian flannel front panels. Quilted Lambswool. A luxury casual jacket now at a much, much more friendly price. Sizes Large and up available via Brooks Brothers. If you need something smaller, Rue La La has these in Small and Medium, but they’re kicking around at $199 at post time.
Slim Fit Button Down in Green, Blue, or Grey – $51.99 via Rue La La ($105)
A solid (yet… patterned… AHAH HAHAHAHAHAH), do-anything, slim fit button down for the fellas who absolutely love the roll of the collar on Brooks Brothers button downs.
Italian Linen/Cotton Fabric. Slimmer but not tight fit. Should do well with plain polos and summerweight sportcoats. Dressier, thanks to that crease down the front of each leg, but chambray, especially with the texture of being a linen blend, should be easy to dress down too.
Donegal wool in summer? Sure. Why not? It’s got those familiar flecks that come with Donegal wool, but it’s still a mixed-media fabric belt. And that grey would be a nice way to brighten up a pair of dark jeans while it’s still cool enough to wear denim.
Not for those who prefer subtle patterns or solids. But the price is terrific. Half lined. Linen is woven in Italy. Takes some style onions to pull off.
Spendy for most of us, but it’s made in the USA from Italian wool, has a timeless three button single breasted silhouette, and the quality must be there (if they were charging $1300 for it to start). Limited sizes left.
Out of season (or, almost out of season) but it’s cotton and not a heavy/itchy wool. Zip & snap front placket. Couple of pockets for stashing stuff. Terrific Blackwatch pattern.
Knit Ties: Silk, Wool, Bold Stripe Silk, Wide Stripe Silk – $39.50 ($79.50)
Summer wedding season is creeping up fast. So something in a textured knit would do just fine for one of those events. Fabrics made in Italy for all of these ties.
Look, I get it. Waistcoats ain’t for everyone. But it is one way to keep your torso lines nice and clean, without the extra sleeves that a sportcoat/blazer can bring. Now, that said, if you’re going for some serious, advanced men’s style stuff, you can pair this with a contrasting sportcoat for a Gatsby sorta look. Interesting reviews. Wondering if when the item was first posted, a different pic was put up? Really glad that they went with a cotton-blend back, instead of the usual silk/poly shiny back most waistcoats come with.
Italian Merino Wool Knit Blazer – $245 via RueLaLa ($498)
Remember this thing from last fall? It’ll have to stay in the closet for a few months, but those peak lapels, easy construction, and that texture is awfully tempting. Available at the flash sale site Rue La La, who also just happens to be running a Brooks Brothers event right now.
Another spring-ready sportcoat, only this time it’s in a lightweight wool instead of cotton or linen. Fitzgerald fit. Not sure if it’s fully lined or half lined? Reviewers seem to indicate that it leans a little less contrast-y in person. More cream and forest green than white and leafy green.
Been sitting in the sale section, at this price, forever. So, don’t expect it to jump back up in price tomorrow. A very nice, spring/summer ready ribbon belt. The Burgundy base is a nice way to avoid that fire-engine red I’M WEARING RED AND IT’S SPRING WHEEEEE! look.
The Brooks Brothers up to 70% off Clearance event is set to end today, 4/25/16. If what they did last time holds, then most of this stuff will creep back up in price come tomorrow. Maybe. Probably.
