Timex knew pretty quickly that they had something when they released their throwback “Waterbury” collection. And one of the highlights was their timelessly rugged chronographs. Combine those original Waterbury models with Red Wing’s terrific boot leather, and this is what you get.
42mm chronograph shown above. Red Wing’s boot leather is used for the strap.
Available in three sizes, a 38mm, a 40mm, and the 42mm chronograph, each watch’s strap is made from Red Wing’s thick boot leather. They originally hit END. Clothing’s website earlier this spring, and Primer picked up on them. But they sold out almost immediately, with only the 40mm coming back into stock eventually.
UPDATE: Looks like END. Clothing has them all back in stock. Ships from England though, and you’re on the hook for returns. Read on for those details.
For now, Todd Snyder has both the 38mm, 40mm, and 42mm chronograph in stock. Repeat: For now… they have them in stock. You could also pick up a non Red-Wing Waterbury Chrono somewhere else on sale, and put an aftermarket, high quality band of your choosing on it. Dial/indices styles might vary depending on the model, but there are plenty of options to play with on the market. Yet it’s understandable why these sell so fast. They look terrific, they’re a fair price, and a good leather strap can make a big difference when it comes to wearing an inexpensive watch.
BUT… and this is an important point… They’re more expensive via Todd Snyder. Via the END. Clothing site, they’re priced at $109 – $135 (the 40mm option can still be had there for $109). Yet now at Todd Snyder? They’re $138 for the standard watches, and $158 for the chronograph. That’s quite the jump, but END ships from England, and you’re on the hook for returns. $11.95 is also END.’s lowest priced shipping option. So, know that probably accounts for the price difference.
Suiting up with a little color and other small nods to spring.

It's nice when a brand warns their customers in advance of raising their prices.
