UPDATE: Meanwhile, Groupon (which is still around) is running a $25 for $50 or $50 for $100 Charles Tyrwhitt Deal via their Wichita affiliate. Hat tip to Cliff O. for sending in the tip!
Shall we play a game? Look, Charles Tyrwhitt can be a really solid place to get good quality stuff for a reasonable price. But you gotta play their games. Sales. Codes. Bundles. It can be a little mind numbing. And it seems like prices have gone up in the past year or so, to the point where those shirts for $29.99 deals appear to be something of a rarity (if flat out extinct) now. But they’re running a sizeable mid-season sale. And while their wheelhouse shirts aren’t that great of a deal this time, there is plenty to consider.
Also worth noting are two codes floating around right now: RMEX5 is good for 5% off, while RMSALE8 is good for 8% off + free shipping. And free shipping helps, since this stuff ships from the UK (and it can take a while). But the good news is, they still appear to be offering free returns for their US customers. Got all that? Off we go…
= $179 bundle price ($44.75 per shirt)
Apply RMEX5 for 5 % off = $170.05 ($42.51 per shirt)
Here’s the Bottom line: After the four shirt bundle price + the extra 5% off, that works out to $42.51 per shirt. No, that’s not as good as it used to be. And four dress shirts is a LOT to buy at once. If you’re a bundle shopper? Great. If not? Then dropping $170.05 at once on four dress shirts probably isn’t in your plans.
Half lined in viscose, worsted wool shell, and dual vents in the rear. It’s lambswool and part of their fall lineup (it’s on clearance)… but if it’s worsted, it might be a solid 3-season jacket? Big fan of that not too huge windowpane overlay.
Perfect shade of brown suede. Smooth sole. Almost certainly “imported” instead of made in the UK, but the price seems fair, especially if the sole is stitched instead of glued. Shape looks great too.
For those who prefer their springy sportcoats to be wool instead of cotton. Warm weather appropriate royal blue, butterfly lining, grey metal buttons, and a (half?) canvas construction.
Yes, it’s clearance time for outerwear. And while it’s gonna get warm in a hurry, and these will have to be shelved until the fall when that happens, they’re still awfully debonair looking. A nice alternative to J. Crew’s Ludlow Topcoat (which is on mega sale right now). Unlike the ludlow, this one doesn’t have a covered placket, and comes with that extra ticket pocket. 75% wool / 25% nylon on the navy and charcoal, while the light grey is 90% wool and 10% cashmere.
Now this one? This might be just too out of season for someone to drop a quarter of a grand on. Still mighty fine looking.
A mac with a little more character. Darker grey keeps it formal enough to wear with a suit, glen plaid with windowpane pattern keeps it interesting. All cotton and lined in viscose.
Yes, those picks were quicker than normal. It really can be a bit mind numbing to browse through CT’s sales. But those are probably your best bets. Word is this Charles Tyrwhitt mid season sale ends on 4/17. No, it’s not the most amazing sale. Far from it. But it feels like CT has been tightening up their codes and promos as of late.
From wheelhouse standards like chinos and sweaters, to fancy holiday stuff like velvet blazers and…
Weekend update: JCF drops the price on those suede boots to under $80 (final sale…
Fall textures. Smoothly suited. Dark and sleek. Etc.
In person with an iconic loafer... in a not so classic shade.
It's autumnal temptation time. Coats. Boots. Blazers. Sweaters. Shoes.
Brooks Brothers also gets in on the "sale's on sale" act.
