Brooks Brothers does this every year. They run a week of one-day deals, and usually it’s some of the steepest discounts you can get annually, without having a Brooks Brothers credit card and stacking other offers. It’s five days this year (last year it was six) and they’re kicking off their week with a one day, 40% off sale on suits, sportcoats, and trousers.
Even WITH the 40% off… it’s still Brooks Brothers. So if you’ve got a J. Crew Factory budget, the prices here might still be a little steep. But Brooks Brothers is a staple for many and for good reason. Note that for some reason, despite it being branded as a “tailored clothing” sale, Blazers are out. No discount there. Strange. Anyway, on with the picks…
Kinda like a higher quality version of this. Soft construction, good texture to the washed lambswool, and highly versatile in the colder months. Available in Blue (sizes are all but gone) or Olive. Cut in their pleasing to most Fitzgerald Fit. Trimmer, but not tight. Jacket tail isn’t chopped. More on the Fitz. fit over here.
Their flagship suit. Half canvas. All wool. Made in the USA or Italy. A classic cut in the Fitz’s slightly tailored fit that won’t go out of style anytime soon (if, ever). Center vent and flat front trousers.
Don’t sleep on a charcoal windowpane as a go-to pattern. Looks great with wool trousers as well as jeans. This one is made from their engineered, wool/poly “Brooks Cool” blend. Full canvas construction too.
Great for the guys who prefer a little less lining. Self fabric lined up front, and a butterfly yoke in the back. Half Canvas construction. Pattern has some interest, but it’s muted enough to keep it subtle. Regent fit here. So not quite as trim as the Fitzgerald. Many might need some extra work at a tailor to slim it down a touch.
HOLY HOLIDAYS. A life of the party sportcoat. Just try and keep the lampshade off your head and you should be fine. Takes some onions to pull off.
And now a couple of suits made from their wool/poly “BrooksCool” fabric. Word is that these actually make for some solid, every day suits, and they do really seem to breathe pretty well and resist creasing. Half lined. Full canvas. “Imported.”
Billed as having a “Super soft” construction. Butterfly yoke lining in the back. Wool/nylon shell. And get a load of the subtle patch pockets. Looks like a classic without the rigid shape or bulky frame.
A splurge, but made from authentic Scottish Harris Tweed. Blue base, with a subtle red windowpane pattern overlay. (Or is it underlay?) Steep, even with the 40% off discount.
The Wool/Silk Blends that Brooks Brothers uses really are something else. The infusion of silk lightens up the fabric just a touch in terms of weight, seems to help it drape a little better, but the fabric still feels super-strong. Also pictured at the top of the page. UPDATE: These are all but gone.
The 40% off Suits/Sportcoats/Trousers sale at Brooks Brothers ends today, 12/2/15.
