No exclusions is always certainly worth a mention, but the free shipping at $50 and delivery on or by 12/24 is also impressive. But take that shipping promise with a grain of salt. If last year was any indication, the crush of parcels around this time of year can be a major task. Understandably so. So if it’s something that has to be under the tree, then you might want to splurge on the extra shipping speed. Also know that it looks like GAP Inc. is hedging some of their bets this year, since a huge chunk of their inventory is low in stock or sold out. Less available = less to get somewhere on time, right? Who knows. That’s just speculation, but both the GAP and BR sites are oddly sparse in terms of size selection. What follows is the best of what’s left. Both codes expire Monday, 12/21.
Obligatory. A lot of boot for just over a hundred bucks. Perfect toes, the leather is better than good for the price, and I found them comfortable out of the box. Full review here.
Obligatory #2. Hardly ever on sale, and unlike any other pair of denim in your closet. Ridiculous amounts of stretch, but they do look like a pair of normal, saturated dark blue denim. Full review here. Really wish they made this in their straight fit (currently only offered in slim).
As always, expect the sleeves to run a little long and the jacket tails to run short. But at least GAP picks cotton or cotton blends instead of scratchy and suffocating polyester to line their blazers with. Black/White option is 70% wool and 30% poly, while the navy is 50% wool, 47% polyester, and 3% “other.”
Made in their surprisingly good 55% wool / 45% nylon blend. Doesn’t appear to have pockets of any kind? Either way, it could easily become a new favorite in the really relaxed yet still put together rotation.
Looks like BR has all but done away with their more standard “tailored” fit for their jackets? The Modern Slim claims to be even slimmer, so that’ll work great for the thinner dudes. But if you’ve got some bulk, you might start to feel a little squeezed.
Started out at $130. Now on sale for $85. The code drops em’ to just over fifty bucks. 100% Scottish wool.
Zero structure. None. Sweater-like, but drapes and looks like a blazer once you get it on. Reversible too, which is a nifty work of garment engineering. Cut in their true slim “modern slim” silhouette, so, if you’ve got some bulk to you, your proportions might not fit (see the length of the sleeves of a 40R on a 5’10” / 185 frame above). Camel version is all but sold out, but there’s plenty of the Navy/Charcoal left.
Wool blend trousers on the cheap. Each is a blend of 40% Wool, 30% Polyester, 29% Rayon, and 1% stretch (spandex/elastane) for hopeful ease of movement. Slim fits have a “mini plaid” pattern, while the straight fits appear to be a subtle herringbone.
These have real potential. GAP’s macs are dead simple, drape nicely, and the collars stand up well if you so choose. This one is a 65% cotton / 35% nylon mac with a removeable long-sleeve quilted jacket. So you could wear each separately, or, together for extra warmth.
A perfect shirt to layer under a slim merino v-neck or a navy blazer. It dresses down a look (compared to, say, a bright white dress shirt) but still looks put together. Fabric is nice and lightweight, not some super thick, denim-like chambray that you can find on more workwear style shirts.
Super versatile color at a super cheap price. Extremely well reviewed too. Been looking for this thing in-store, but haven’t come across it yet. Still beware the potential short tail/long sleeves issue.
Jeans are often excluded from codes and promos, so if you’re in need of a pair and like what GAP has to offer in terms of denim, now’s not a bad time to jump on board.
Nothing wrong with a little luxury in terms of dressing down. Kinda digging that dark colorblock thing they’re doing with it.
The slim fits get you that jean-like 5-pocket styling, while the straight fits are the more traditional chino/khaki like design with slash pockets at the hips and welts in the rear. Just three shades in the straight, but six colors in the slim, with a super-dark green that would look killer at holiday parties.
Both are 100% extra-fine merino wool and supremely giftable. Three colors available on the hat, but just the grey and red striped option left on the boiled wool scarf.
The 40% off at Banana Republic code BRMERRY, as well as the 40% off at GAP code GIFTNOW, both expire on Monday 12/21/15. That also happens to be the last day for standard shipping to make it to you in time for Christmas.
