Full honesty: There ain’t a lot in the Bonobos sale section right now. This feels like a late summer / early fall clearance more than anything, and sizes are pretty scattered across the board. But Bonobos has some fans for good reason. Their prices to start can be steep, so when there’s any kind of cut like this, some of us still take a spin through the sale section.
It doesn’t appear that any of this is final sale yet. So, you still get free shipping, and super easy free returns. (Hooray for having the return label IN the box, and not needing to seek out a printer to make your own.) Code DIBS expires tomorrow, 11/3.
If you run a bit on the warm side, or just prefer your sportcoats and blazers to come with minimal lining, then this thing is absolutely worth considering. The Barberis wool from Italy is sturdy, flexible, and incredibly breathable. I bought the grey version in the spring, and aboslutely love it. The thing is as unlined as it gets. Fantastic for travel too.
The pants that built their business, these are made from a year-round weight cotton and available in a crud-ton of shades and fits. Since those that are in the sale section have naturally been picked over a bit, you might need to hunt around for your preferred size/fit combo. The three picks above had at least a decent size/fit selection at post time.
Super casual but unbelievably comfortable. Picked one of these up during a previous sale, and it’s perfect for running weekend errands, or when I’m hanging at home yet don’t want to feel like a total schlub. 85% wool, 15% linen breathes great and offers some decent warmth. And that split tail hem is actually a nice touch.
Preppy minus the private-school price. Part of their “Madie” golf collection, this is for the guys who have tastes that lean towards the more traditional, ivy-league style. But it doesn’t look too stuffy. Buttons are silver tone instead of brass, and the Italian Cotton Mesh should be really easy to dress down. There is an “M” monogram embroidered on the lower left patch pocket.
Grey patterned dress shirts are oddly difficult to find. They look great with navy suits or jeans and a sportcoat, and these light grey shirts do great with darker grey sweaters and sportcoats/suit jackets as well. It gives you some of the dressy-feel of a white dress shirt, but without the full, stark contrast. A good way to mix it up. Wrinkle free fabric and nice collars for going tieless if you so choose.
For the jeans-addicts who also really like the Bonobos fit. The fabric is from the U.S. as well. It’s 12.25 oz White Oak Cone Denim from North Carolina. Perfect deep, dark blue shade.
Yep, grey again. But more casual button downs this time. And while $30.40 (with shipping included) for the “check” version isn’t half bad, $54 for the gingham is steep (forget the original asking price of $85). But… if you like the patterns, which aren’t your every-day run of the mill checks or stripes, then they might be a fun splurge.
Out of season of course, but possibly a steal for someone who’s got a wedding coming up in the spring or summer. Unlike a lot of cotton suits, these are only half lined in the back with a butterfly lining. That’s a big deal, since a lot of cotton twill suits can be fully lined, sometimes in all stuffy-polyester, and twill can be on the dense side. Double vent and good looking button stance on these.
Got hands on with these jeans (and therefor, legs/caboose in) and they’re really more of a year-round jean than a “summerweight” jean. Meaning: get em’ on and they don’t feel like tissue paper, but they don’t feel like rigid cardboard either. They’re 10 oz denim, while their regular jeans are 12 oz. There’s a difference, but they’re not light-years apart. If you’re the type who prefers their jeans to be nice and flexible, then these might really appeal to you.
