Less is more, especially when it comes to dress watches. But, well… what if you’re the type who kinda likes “more” in terms of watches most of the time? Can’t there be a middle ground between a super busy sport watch, and a hyper-minimalist dress watch?
Yes indeed. And Orient’s new Adventurer is a prime example of such a timepiece.
On the one hand, it’s pretty busy with all the markings. The different timezones around the outer bezel, plus the 2nd-time zone hour markings on the inner bezel. But on the other hand (or, same hand, since most guys don’t switch wrists when it comes to their watches) it’s still pretty simple looking thanks to the symmetry and elegance of the less-contrast eggshell white dial.
If you’re the type that wouldn’t blink at wearing a chronograph with a suit, then you’ll do just fine with this. And if you’re a traveler, the world time function is useful. Simply align the two bezels to match the time with where you happen to be located, and you can tell, at a glance, what time it is anywhere in the world, as the inner dial rotates as the minutes tick by.
Date function is located at the subdial at 6 o’clock, and the real bonus is the power reserve indicator at noon. It’s like a gas gauge for your automatic movement. So if you’re the type to set your watch down for quite a while, you can give it a look and see easily if you need to get that automatic movement swinging again.
Sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback, and power reserve is around the 40 hour mark. 43.5 mm in diameter, so on the bigger side. Gonna catch the eye of plenty of fellas who like their watches not too small, and not too simple. One of the best looking new releases Orient has come out with in a while. Also available with a black dial in a stainless or (rose?) gold-tone case.
Enter here to win the Orient Adventurer w/ the eggshell dial seen above. Deadline for entry is 12:59 PM ET on 10/27/15. Many thanks to Orient for providing this new model for a giveaway.
UPDATE: Congrats to E. Garcia who won the drawing for the Adventurer!
