Saddleback Thin Brief in Black – $461 – $474

Not their old, marbled, greyish looking “Carbon” black. Just black. None more black. Sure, most are going to go for the Dark Coffee Brown, but getting a classic black Saddleback Thin Brief in production has been long awaited by more than a few. $461 for the medium size, and $474 for the large. Allen Edmonds Mojave 2 – $350

Wow those are pricey. And wow those are something. More structure than a standard, inexpensive desert boot, and made in the USA from English Suede. For the guys who don’t wear dress shoes all that often, and instead are in boots and jeans or chinos quite a bit. Fingers crossed these hit the sale section at some point. Their Chukkas usually seem to.

 

Banana Republic Tailored-Fit Navy Nailhead Cotton Blazer – $198

Dead. Friggin’. Simple. And that’s perfect. Just a touch of visual interest thanks to the nailhead pattern to the cotton. Is it fully lined, and likely lined in mostly polyester? Yes. Does it probably have functional sleeve buttons, which are a pain to tailor? Also yes. But if you can get a decent off the rack fit, it could be a great blazer to build plenty of outfits around. Blazers don’t often go on sale, but they will eventually. Color is described as “Blue Steel.” Yes really. Gasoline fight!

 

UNIQLO Extra Fine Merino V – $39.90 (and weather to wear it in)

Looks what’s back. Just in time for… the dead of summer? Look, if there is such a thing as a summer sweater, it’s probably one of these. They are on the thin side, but they’re not poorly constructed. Slim fit too. Breathable merino wool, lots of colors to pick from, and layers up great with OCBDs and sportcoats when fall rolls around. Keep an eye out for a sale.

 

Orient Mako USA Automatic – $225

Orient took the best of their flagship “Mako”, and the best elements from their “Ray”, put a sapphire crystal on it, solid end-links for the bracelet… and priced it at $60 – $70 less than their mineral crystal counterparts. Bravo. In-house automatic movement, 200m water resistance, and a 120-click uni-directional bezel. Coupon codes don’t appear to work on these things… yet?

 

BONUS: Maxx&Unicorn USA Made Black Oxide Money Clip – $38.00

Mean money. The Maxx&Unicorn money clip in brass has appeared on this site before, but the black oxide finish deserves a mention too. Solid brass underneath which gets exposed over time with use. Made in Brooklyn.
