What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Brunch can often be seen as… hoity-toity. It’s a meal that was hijacked by the stuffy trust-fund set (sports!) long ago, but has since started to be re-taken by us normal types. Host one, or go out. Just don’t get stuck in some dingy hall slopping 5 hour old eggs onto a doily anchored plate. Sit outside, take your time, and don’t be in a rush to get anywhere.
The Pants: Old Navy Slim Lightweight Khakis in “Frost at Sea” – $19.50. Earth tones get a ton of run in the summer months. So why not a cool blue? Super cheap, slim fit, and a lighter weight made just for the warm weather. In-person can be found over in this post.
The Polo: UNIQLO Navy Button Down Collar Dry-Fabric – $14.90. Right. You’re stunned… stunned that the UNIQLO button down is getting the nod here. But consider the color. In the heat of summer, make use of your darker colors in the morning and after sundown. Brunch is the perfect time to wear a light pair of pants, and off set it with a dark navy polo.
The Sunglasses: Persol P02430 – $121.49. Expensive. But oddly enough, not so pricey for Persol. Picked up a pair of these recently and couldn’t be happier with them. They’re built solid, but still flexible, like all other Persols. And unlike most (all?) the other models, this one has slightly rubberized ear pieces. So, a little more grip around your sweaty ears, but they still look dressed up. Good, angular lenses for those who are tired of the tear-drop/rounded lens look, but not so sharp that you look like you’ve got a CTS pasted to your head. Too friggin’ pricey? Wear whatever you’ve got. New Wayfarers, wayfarer knock offs, AO pilots, etc…
The Watch: Orient Bambino Automatic Version III – $182 w/ youtube30 ($260). Another Bambino? Excellent. Same domed crystal, but now with a nice and modern minimalist design. There’s also a blue-dial as well as a grey dial version this time. Hat tip to Aaron K. for sending in the style tip on the latest model.
The Belt: Bonobos Green/Grey Striped Web Belt – $22.40 w/ SUMMER20 ($50). The kind of “summer” belt that you can wear year round, thanks to the cool tones. Ships free since it’s Bonobos. Code knocks an extra 20% off all sale items.
The Briefcase: Jack Spade “dappled leather” Grant Brief – $209.25 w/ BIGSALE. A briefcase? At brunch? Depends. If you work for a company or in a field that encourages/depends on ideas, then consider trying to convince your boss (or, taking your team) out to Brunch on one Friday for a working brunch. Eat. Kick ideas around. Give them the rest of the day off. You might be surprised how many ideas can be thought up, when some time is set aside to do just that. Code is good for an extra 25% off Jack Spade sale items through 7/6.
The Cocktail: The Americano. James Bond thought it was terrible. James Bond was also a drunk (hat tip to Tim of the Dossier who’s got that info-graphic in his upcoming Friday addition… sorry to steal it early pal.) It’s Brunch for cryin’ out loud. Or, just get club soda with a lime.
The Shoes: Banana Republic Michael Loafer – $65.99 w/ BRSALE ($128). Not clunky, a versatile shade of darker grey, and on mega-sale. Reviews say they can be uncomfortable. Hm. That might not be so good for sockless (or, just wear some lighter grey or blue socks), so if you’re concerned, there’s always the now-on-sale Goodyear Welted J. Crew Kenton loafer.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
