Nordstrom Summer Clearance Picks for Men

Nordstrom Summer 2015 Clearance Sale

Hang on, didn’t we just have a half-yearly sale? Yes, we did. And unlike in years past, it appears that Nordstrom has now slapped aon the further markdowns post half-yearly. This is what’s left over. Not everything gets additional cuts in price, but much of it does. Remember, free shipping & returns on everything. Here’s the best of the best, in case you want to avoid scrolling through 8000+ items:

Nordstrom Trim Fit Linen Suit Jacket & Pant – $294.80 ($440)

Was pretty pricey, but sub $300 seems like it could be a decent deal. In-house Nordstrom stuff is usually really solid quality. And it looks like (maybe?) there’s a chance that the sleeve buttons are non-functioning? Extremely well reviewed across different demographics. Also available in a standard “natural” shade of beige/khaki, as well as white. The argument for a navy summer-fabric suit can be found here.

Nordstrom Smartcare Herringbone Trim Fit Dress Shirt – $38.90 ($65)

Nordstrom’s well-made, house-brand dress shirts with a very faint herringbone pattern to the fabric. Smartcare does not = wrinkle free, but they do iron up pretty easily. Great collars on these things too.

Allen Edmonds McGregor Suede Longwings – $229.90 ($385)

And now, something to wear with that dress shirt & linen suit. Long live the long-wing. Still lots of sizes available, and available in either the snuff suede pictured above, a deep dark chocolate suede, or navy suede. This is the same price that these things have been sitting at for what seems like months.

Bonobos Barely There Sportcoats – $246.56 ($368)

WHOA. Stop the presses. These are these from over here (see “best in show pricey”). Two colors available, the light grey and the lighter than navy “navy”. Sure, the button stance might be a little high for some, but the weave on these is not as tight as a standard wool (hence the “knit” in the description), there’s little to no construction (making them ultra-cool), and the sleeve buttons are non-functional. Probably the steal of this sale.

1901 Larken Buck – $59.96 ($99.95)

Just a buck… but a cheap buck. Has the more traditional, boxy buck shape. But it’s Nordstrom, so even their cheap shoes should hold up decently over time. Three shades to pick from. Ships & returns for free.

Bonobos Straight or Slim Washed Chinos – $58.96 ($88)

A few different colors this time, but all are still easy to wear in summer (grey/different shades of blue that aren’t navy). Ships & returns free since it’s Nordstrom, so, you get the Bonobos like shipping policy even though someone else is selling them.

Sebago Brattle Wingtip – $105.99 ($145)

A great, casual wingtip for summer. Super-grippy sole pays tribute to Sebago’s boat shoe heritage, while the sleek uppers are anything but clunky, yet still not too pointy to wear with chinos or linen pants. Or even sockless with shorts and an OCBD with the sleeves rolled up. Why not?

Jack Spade Dipped Leather Card Case – $38.98 ($78)

Was $52.26 during the half-yearly, and now a full half-off during the clearance event. A little different, a little color. Something to tuck inside your jacket pocket during all those summer weddings.

Jack Spade Dipped Leather Card Case Tobacco/Navy – $39.98 ($78)

OR… there’s this light tan + navy combo. Which looks extra good. Same price as the more subdued options. Half off. Didn’t see this one during the half-yearly.

Todd Snyder White Label Trim Fit Solid Dress Shirt – $62.49 ($125)

Sizes got run through pretty quickly during the half-yearly, but there’s still a few normal sizes left for these things. Appears to be a true spread collar. Perfect shade of light blue.

M. Kors Trim Fit Stripe Stretch Cotton Sport Coat – $172.49 ($345)

Description says it’s fully lined, which if true, is a disappointment. That 98% cotton, 2% elastane, sorta slub-looking fabric is the perfect exterior to have over a barely lined sportcoat. Still, it’s half off.

Gordon Rush Single Monks in Cognac or Black – $155.90 ($188)

Gordon Rush shoes can sometimes under perform for the price (these single monks look a LOT like DSW’s Aston Grey Suedes from last year). That said, if you’re a single monk fan, you might want to give these a shot. Super sleek, super versatile, and a design (the single, not double monk) that’s tough to find under two bills.

John W. Nordstrom Twill Dress Shirts – $44.75 ($89.50)

From Nordstrom’s upgraded “John W.” line. A lot of guys probably didn’t give these a second look because they say “striped” in the description. Striped? They don’t appear to be striped. They are twill though, which has a striped texture to the weave. But it’s not some pinstripe print or anything. More on twill over here.

Hugo Boss Striped Socks – $10.05 ($15)

A different take on the loud socks trend. Big, fat, color-blocked segments on each sock, in bright but not migraine inducing colors. Cotton/Nylon/Elastane blend.

To Boot New York Brooklyn Double Monk – $199.90 ($325)

Was $199.90 during the half-yearly… still $199.90. But now, with fewer sizes left! Right. Made in Italy.

Nordstrom Washed Slim or Straight Leg Chinos – $33.16 ($49.15)

A lot less expensive than the Bonobos options. Five different shades to pick from. Slim or straight fits available. A basic, but a solid price for what should be decent quality.

Todd Snyder Trim Fit Linen Sportcoat – $272.49 ($545)

Spendy, but top-notch quality. Made in the USA of imported linen. A good blazer for the guys who miss their blacks and greys that often get worn during the colder months. Why not wear this with white jeans, sleek black penny loafers, and a light blue dress shirt?

Jack Spade Marine Canvas Brief – $193.98 ($388)

Modern and dead simple. Leather accents. Waxed canvas. Subtle embossed logo patch. 16″ wide, 12″ high, and 2″ deep. So, slim without being dinky.

Bonobos Slim or Straight Fit  Cotton/Linen Trousers – $99.16 ($148)

Still really expensive, but smart enough that they should be fine in more dressed up business environments. A couple of subtle patterns, plus that front leg crease will go a long way with the white-collar world. Good for the guys who are stuck in sweltering areas and wouldn’t mind dropping a hundred bucks on some pants that’ll keep the breeze flowing.

Apolis Made in the USA Hoof Pick Belt – $58.80 ($98)

The opposite of a summer belt, but still. Pretty darn good looking and should get serious use from September – May. Made in the USA, 1.25″ wide. One of those items that re-purposes a traditional tool into something easy on the eyes.

The oh HELL no: Topman “Spray on” Jeans – $55.99 ($70)

How is this even possible? Bo Jackson could snap this dude’s femur over his head.

Word is this clearance sale is set to expire this Sunday, June 28th. But what are they going to do, raise prices on clearance items? Who knows. As always, shipping & returns are free at Nordstrom, even on sale stuff.
