It is simple, it is clean, and there’s just something about blue hands on a white watch dial.

The Bambino has been Orient’s flagship dress watch for years now, and when they introduced the vintage-look options back in 2013, they couldn’t keep the things in stock. Availability was scarce, and the cream dial/blue hands model, as well as the white dial/rose gold accents model, were almost perpetually sold out.

But production has ramped back up, those models are back in stock, and in true give-the-people-what-they-want fashion, Orient has just released an additional two designs. Both of which meld desirable design choices from the previous editions.

Not a stark, paper-white dial. Let’s call it a very pale silver.

You couldn’t get away from gold (or cream) with the previous models. And that was MORE than fine for plenty, but if you wanted blue hands? You had to choose the cream dial option. Wanted a white dial? You best be good with rose gold accents. If you wanted one with a black dial? Gold-tone was your only choice for the case.

But that curbing of case conditions… is now no longer the, um… case.

The two newest models are an addition to the lineup through the subtraction of the gold & cream. First, a super-slick black dial w/ silver case & accents will appeal to the minimalist crowd. And second, they’ve combined a white dial with blue hands & silver indices for something that’s at once both modern & classic looking.

Blue hands. Great crown. Automatic. Looks like it cost much more than $170.

The rest of the watch is the same. It still has one of Orient’s in-house automatic movements at its heart. It doesn’t hack or hand-wind at the onion style crown, but it’s affordable and dependable. They’ve  kept the Bambino’s signature domed crystal, which adds an enormous amount to its looks. Case diameter is still a well balanced 40.5mm, and the slimmed down hands & more intricate minute & hour markers give it that instant-heirloom presence.

They’re not re-inventing their own wheel, but those slight tweaks for the two new versions will be greatly appreciated by some.

Enter here to win the white dial + blue hands Orient Bambino featured in the post above. Deadline for entry is 12:59 PM ET on 4/23/15. Good luck!

UPDATE: Congrats to P. White who won the random drawing for the White & Blue Orient Bambino. Thanks again to Orient for providing the watch for an in-person review and then a giveaway!
