J. Crew Factory: 40% off Most Everything + GiltCity 30% off Voucher

Here’s how this works.

First, you’ll have to head over to Gilt’s groupon-like site, GiltCity, and get your hands on one of these things. You’ll have to give GILT your email if you haven’t signed up with them already, but the voucher is free after that. Hit the “RSVP” button, then keep an eye on your inbox. Should take an hour or two. Maybe a little more. Once you get the email you can use your 30% off user specific code at checkout from JCF. It should stack on the already 40% off discount that JCF is running through today. One quick note: Prices in parentheses are the current 40% off sale price, not the “valued at” price. Red prices are with the 30% off voucher applied. Off we go…

 

Linen/Cotton Thompson Fit Sportcoat – $74.55 ($106.50)

The star of this sale-show. Some (perhaps most?) guys would be turned off by the out-of-the-norm horizontal stripe… but it’s really pretty subtle in person. Extremely lightweight, very breezy, and just half-lined. Great Thompson cut. Patch pockets. Slightly lowered button stance and slim lapels. This is going to end up being a warm weather favorite for many this year (and in years to come). In-person coming in the bi-annual best blazers of the season post.

 

Seersucker 9″ Swim Trunks or 7″ Swim Trunks – $24.95 ($34.50)

That might be one of the better deals on a just-different-enough pair of trunks you’ll see this season. Seersucker fabric (in solid navy or white/blue sripe), mesh lined, and the waist isn’t diaper-like with a bunch of elastic. Side pocket only on the 9″ version.

 

Thompson Unconstructed Cotton Twill Sportcoat – $58.79 ($83.99)

It’s the perfect time of year for one of these cotton, barely-there blazers. This one is in the clearance section, and the extra 30% off drops it into super-affordable territory. And unlike *cough* OTHER super-affordable blazers, this one has non-functioning sleeve buttons. Much easier to tailor. Even though it is in clearance, it doesn’t appear to be final sale? Meanwhile, the new version (could be a different shade, could be different lighting?) is $70.35 with the gilt voucher.  Full review here.

 

Seersucker Button Down – $29.05 ($41.50)

If you prefer solids over patterns, but still like a little bit of visual (and to the touch) texture, then Seersucker is a great play in warm weather. Even up against solid pants and a solid blazer, a white seersucker shirt won’t make the outfit look blocky or boring (not that three solids look boring to most). Stripes are puckered of course, because Seersucker attempts to keep you cooler by raising some of the fabric off your skin. That creates air-flow. Air-flow = less stickiness.

 

Lightweight Shirt in Large Check – $24.85 or Washed Tattersall – $23.45

Full disclosure: Haven’t ever tried one of the JCF “lightweight” shirts (their standard washed button downs aren’t heavy by any stretch)… but now might be the time. That exploded gingham looks fantastic. Meanwhile, the washed shirt in open tattersall is a standard that’s easy to wear.

 

Slim Bedford in Linen/Cotton Horizontal Stripe – $33.25 ($47.50)

Seems to be made out of the same fabric as the blazer that lead this post… would not wear these together as a suit though. That’s a lot of horizontal stripes all at once, even if they are subtle.

 

SLIM Factory Contrast Pocket – $14.35 or Heathered Tee – $8.05

A good way to tip the free shipping balance if you’re close to triple digits (anything under $100 is five bucks for shipping). Slimmer cut on both of these. Contrast pocket tee is all cotton, while the heathered tee is a cotton poly blend.

 

Carson Duffel Bag – $40.95 ($58.90)

Basic and down to earth. Cotton twill exterior, some leather (barely leather?) accents, and a few different colors to pick from. 2320 cubic inches of space means it’s good for a weekend if you pack light, or, a decent gym bag.

 

Summerweight Cotton Chinos in Straight, Slim-Straight, or Slim – $24.85 ($34.50)

J.C.F. calls their fits (moving from straight to slim) “Bleecker”, “Sutton”, and “Driggs”, but they’re essential a straight, slim straight, and true slim fit respectively. Now just under twenty five bucks for a lighter-weight chino.

 

9″ Linen/Cotton Patterned – $24.85 or Solid Shorts – $22.75 ($32-$35)

Not as cheap as Target’s oxford cloth “Club” shorts (which are fantastic by the way, and often go on sale for $15 – $20…), but there’s some linen in these. So, a little lighter, a little breezier.

 

Blue Stripe Web Belt – $12.25 ($17.50)

The cheaper version of big brother J. Crew’s “ticking stripe” belt. Great with shorts. Great with lightweight chinos or linen pants.

 

Slim Bedford in Grey Chambray – $31.15 ($44.50)

Pair it up with a white or light blue polo, some white canvas sneakers, and you’ve got that effortless-elegant-casual thing going on.

 

Factory Cotton or Linen Pocket Squares – $10.15 ($14.15)

In case you’re super close to the free shipping at $100 threshold, and need a bump over the line. A little extra something for your warm weather suit’s jacket pocket if you’re going tieless to a wedding or two this summer.
