It’ll be here before you know it. So if you’re in need of a few ideas on what to give (or in some cases, what to put on your own list) this year, this is the place to be for the next couple weeks. Our annual 12 days of Dappered covers highly giftable ideas with a few examples piggy-backed onto each. All will be reasonably affordable. See the growing archive here.
A pair of triple top stitched Isotoners from Sears or Kohls is about as exciting to give as wrapping up and sticking a bow on top of a pair of tube socks. All of the gloves below have that “just different enough” thing going for them. Of course, giving gloves can be a challenge, since knowing what size to get can be hard to determine. So get that gift receipt if you’re unsure. Let’s get handsy.
Quality on these is… okay. Maybe a good stocking stuffer for the dude who’s always misplacing things or leaving stuff on the train/in the cab/on the hovercraft. 30% off with the code. Leather palms. Also available in a brown houndstooth that might be a bit more difficult to pull off.
Same sort of style as the Target option, only more. More everything. Better looking quilted palms, all wool (instead of poly) tops, and much more in terms of price. 40% off code BRMERRY40 drops these to the low $50s. Ships free. Code ends today.
Sizes are limited, but that code also gets you free shipping through Sierra Trading post. Keep an eye out on flash sale sites like Gilt, Hautelook, etc… since they’ll run Portolano sales from time to time. Nice quality. Very warm. Can take a beating.
Interesting that the diamond quilting doesn’t reach all the way down the backs of the gloves. Lined in cashmere. Made in Italy. NOTE: These were all the way down to $65 yesterday (Monday), so, if you have the ability to wait on these, they should drop further.
Look, driving gloves are a little bit like perpetual stubble. It can project a serious too-cool-for-the-room vibe. BUT… like a few days of facial hair growth, drivers are perfect for 20-45 degrees, where you just want to keep the wind off your skin. And also like stubble, it can look really good. Unless you carry yourself like a self-centered slimy jagamuffin. Which you probably don’t.
Pricey, but pretty much the perfect pick for the more casual/rugged fella who’ll appreciate something higher quality. And that leather. LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR STATE FARM IS THERE.
Basic? Yep. But it’s that lighter shade of brown that really makes these affordable leather gloves stand out. Ships free with the code 2907 through December 21st.
Well… cheap suede is usually a safer bet than cheap smooth leather. And while suede certainly looks a bit more dressed down, they can work with a suit and topcoat. Like the regular leather gloves, these are also, and all together now in all caps: PREMIUM QUALITY!
Gah. That price. But man alive. Sorry Grandmama. Your knitting projects never looked this good. Also available with “burgundy” leather palms, which look much more red than burgundy.
Another wool on top, leather palms on the bottom. Wrist strap on these, and they look a little bulkier and/or warmer than most. Fleece lined and insulated. Ships and returns free.
A perennial favorite. Usually can be had for much less (like high $40s – high $50s with sales), but they’ve been sticking around this $88 price point this year. Even direct through Ralph Lauren, who usually includes them in sales.
