Reader Appreciation Week: C65 Trident Classic Automatic – $690
Consider this week five days of saying thank you. Without your readership, your emails, your terrific comments, and your willingness to spread the word, Dappered wouldn’t exist. The collection of good guys who frequent this corner of the internet is by far the greatest achievement of this website. And to say thank you, we’ve put together five, splurge-worthy giveaways that’ll hopefully express our gratitude. Welcome to Dappered’s Reader Appreciation Week. Good luck, and thanks a million.
This thing excels at standing out quietly. The C65 is one of Christopher Ward’s newest designs, and it’s as simple as it is sharp. No unnecessary design elements cluttering up the dial, but it’s anything but boring.
Based in part on the Trident dive watch collection, the C65 has a wave-textured dial, trident anchored second hand, spade hour hand, and a case solid enough that it feels more like a sport watch. But it absolutely looks like a dress watch, while it can also pull double duty dressed down with jeans.
The 42mm brushed stainless steel case might wear just a touch larger, but it’ll hit the sweet spot for many. Not tiny, but not enormous either. And that entire case is brushed, not just the lugs, so the shine is kept to a minimum. No exhibition case-back on this one, but the “High Definition ‘Trident’ motif back-plate” is anything but a forgotten detail. The “Bader” buckle clasp clicks in and out with a crisp snap.
Runs on the 38-hour power reserve Sellita SW200-1 Swiss automatic movement. Hackable. Sapphire crystal. SuperLuminova indices and hands, and water resistance clocks in at 150m.
It doesn’t shout. But it absolutely has a presence. A presence that those you might not mind noticing might notice, and those that you’d rather not probably won’t. Which is precisely what a lot of us are aiming for.
Enter here to win this Christopher Ward C65 Trident Classic with a black strap. One entry per person. Deadline for entry is 11:59 pm ET 9/10/14. Thanks to Christopher Ward for providing one of their newest additions to their lineup for Reader Appreciation Week.
UPDATE: Congrats to David G. for winning the random drawing for this Christopher Ward C65 Trident Classic! Many thanks once again to the crew at Christopher Ward for sending along one of their newest watches for Reader Appreciation Week…
I never get the CAPTCHA on the first try!
Beautiful watch, Joe. Thanks for the opportunity.
Picture 2 almost had me for a second. The second hand appears black then I had to go to the website to confirm it wasn’t.
“I’m sexy and I know it”. -C65
Funny, neither do I. Even when I’m confident I put it in properly.
Likewise, I’d love that watch though.
Beautiful Watch.
Really like the trident anchoring the second hand. Nice touch.
Very classy looking
“Well Lord, I know we haven’t talked in awhile…but, well…you see there’s this watch.
I know you’re busy…like…with Apple’s iWatch and all, and – trying to keep Joe’s shoes unscuffed, but there’s just this ONE little thing I need you to do.”
*silence*
“Oh…so…you like, already gave it to someone else?”
oh ok…
Same! Must be a Captcha issue.
I love the simplicity in this watch’s design, with fun factors at the “wrist view” scale.
I appreciate your courage in bringing this up! Assuming it was user error, I’ve felt like a moron for the last year and half never getting the CAPTCHA right on the first try. Now I know I’m not alone.
I was convinced that was the reason I have yet to win one of these Dappered drawings…
If only this watch had a Burgundy Cordovan strap to match the Park Aves I’m also going to win…
Too big for me, but I’m sure my brother would take it if I won.
Wish they made this one in a 37 or 38mm version.
I think it must be something where it’s built into the system as an extra step to make sure it’s an actual human being registering for it.
My thoughts exactly..
Perfectly balanced between subtle and flashy.
man, dat second hand…
i can and do wear 42, but I prefer something in the 38-40 range and wish there were more options coming out at that size.
Thank you again!
The worst part is, the relative scarcity of <40mm watches (especially sports watches like divers, chronographs, etc) means that I tend to impulse-buy smaller watches out of sheer desperation whenever I see them. :-/
I've come real close to jumping on the 38mm Trident diver. But I'm waiting to see if it will get released in new colors – I'm really drooling over the 42mm racing green model at the moment.
Ditto
Let’s see it on some brown or Color #8?
The past few giveaways I’ve been meaning to ask if anyone else has this problem. I rarely, if ever get it on the first try. Even when it’s completely obvious and clear that I got it right, the first one is always wrong.
I always forget it if is case sensitive!
The green is an amazing color. I applaud myself for not buying it yet. My willpower will only last so long.
Love the 38 hour power reserve! Looking at their site I think it looks better with the brown strap. Either color, an upgrade to the alligator strap is going to get you a ton of comments when out on the town!
Got it on the first try today
It seems like Adblock and other plugins don’t always play nice with the captcha. One more reason to disable Adblock on Dappered.
wow that s beauty of a watch, thanks for the opportunity 🙂
I believe it is CASE sensitive in that you must use lower case letters, no matter how they appear. Any time I use all CAPS, mix cases, or otherwise try to actually match the text, it doesn’t work. When I go all small, it works.
with. out. fail.
That’s my experience. Each time, I try to replicate it exactly, and fail. Then I use lowercase and succeed.
Strange. I just ran a test and used upper case (for what appeared to be an upper case letter) and it worked for me…
My my. *praying hands*
I love it when I have to figure out if it is an I, 1, or l. Always fun. or an O or a 0. or a 9 or a g. Someone should try all 7 as a cruel joke.
Well it does the same thing on my phone, so its not AdBlock. For me anyway.
I’m on Firefox, without any plugins (like Adblock). Not sure what’s happening. And really, it’s not such a big deal. It takes an additional five seconds (max) to enter your contest for an awesome prize. I’m just thankful for the opportunity.
Any chance you’ll be combining the products from “Offered without Comment” with the premise of “Win It”?
The only question is: will it leave a super cool trident imprint on my wrist? Hopefully so…
great watch
Great looking watch!
OMG, I have to win this!! Thank you so much for the Giveaway Dappered and Christopher Ward 🙂 I don’t think I’ll ever take it off!!
Fantastic watch. Hopefully luck is in my favor.
Looks awesome. I would probably break it.
A timeless looking wristwatch.
clean and simple
Looks incredible
I want this watch!
You might want to check out the Sinn 556.
I owned the Sinn 556i for about 10 minutes before packing it up and returning it. (You thought I was kidding about desperately buying every <40mm watch I saw, didn't you?) IMO it's a dreadfully dull watch and, at $1400, badly overpriced. I own and have owned plenty of <$500 watches that looked nicer and were better finished. Plus the 556 lacks any of the dressy elements that balance out the utilitarian all-brushed case on the Trident Classic (and give it some similarity to a watch like the Aqua Terra), like the polished hands and indices, the interesting hand shapes, the textured dial, and the availability in a color other than matte black.
At twice the price for lesser style and quality, I don't see the Sinn 556 as a very good substitute for a hypothetical mid-sized Trident Classic. At nearly $1400 I'd rather spend a little extra and get something really special like the Nomos Club.
The 556 is $1130 new not $1400 but point taken.
It was just a similar watch I knew off the top of my head that was <40mm.
Good luck in your quest!
