What’s Dappered Threads? It’s our forum. Launched in 2011, Threads has become a not too big, not too small, just-right-sized forum that doesn’t put up with snobbery. All thanks to the users and hardworking mods. Once a month, one of the mods from Threads provides us with a highlight package of the last few weeks.
Kevinj3 stumbled upon these Allen Edmond Sanfords recently and picked them up for fifteen bucks. With a pair of walnut strands already in his arsenal, he refinished them to a deep burgundy, and the transformation is nothing short of stunning.
It seems as if there is an abundance of wallet options available on the market today, so it is especially helpful to see and hear what other people are using. From slim card cases, to money clips, to bi-folds and tri-folds, this thread serves as a great reference for both visual aide and honest user feedback. If you’re considering changing (or upgrading) what you carry your cash & cards in, give this thread a read.
There are few things Threads users enjoy more than a great deal, made in the USA products, and style that stands the test of time. For this week’s contest, readers were challenged to combine all three themes into one outfit. Specifically, the challenge required at least one article of clothing under $15 (no copping out with socks or ties either), one item made in the USA, and one item at least 10 years old. Users Roostertail and ZCM (his look is shown above) battled down to the wire but in the end Roostertail won the voting with his combination of Gustin jeans (USA), a Merona henley (under $15), Chippewa boots (also USA), and hand me-down brown leather belt (10 years+). Check out his winning look and the rest of the entries here.
“First suit, definitely a plain navy or a plain grey. You can play around with the fabric, maybe get a birdseye or a nailhead, but definitely don’t get a loud pattern or ostentatious details to start.” -Jake101
Fall is around the corner, which means it’s only a matter of time before we are full swing into sweater weather. Looking ahead, Threads users discuss the do’s and don’ts of pairing a tie with crew neck sweaters. Where do you stand? Is it possible to successfully pull off a crew neck with a standard tie? Or do you stick to V-necks when layering sweater over necktie?
