Win it: The Orient Surveyor Automatic

Orient Surveyor Automatic – $148.50 w/ study ($270)

Code is good for 45% off & free shipping for any model of the Surveyor. Watch shown here is the leather band option, which clocks in at $270 normally. The stainless steel band drops to $156.75 w/ the code.

The styling won’t be for everyone, but the blue on black combination of the leather strap Orient Surveyor is going to appeal to those who want to anchor their off-duty look with something that’s not quite as cheerful as a Timex Weekender.

Black and blue, with none of the contusions.

At 42mm in diameter and wearing a little bit smaller, it’s anything but a behemoth. That 42mm diameter dial actually looks a bit small, thanks to the unusually wide (for this face diameter) 24mm lugs. It’s a different kind of look… this  mid-sized dial with a beefier strap. And that strap is squared off at the end, solidifying its casual feel.

Mega close up with the textured, deep blue dial.

The in-house automatic movement sits inside an IP coated black case, and under a sapphire crystal. Water resistance is a basic 50m. No exhibition caseback, just the standard stainless steel. The movement doesn’t hack, nor does it hand-wind, but the crown is good and sturdy and everything feels crisp and precise.

One oddity about this thing is how short the strap is. My average sized wrist requires the usage of the 2nd to last hole out of EIGHT. That adds up to the first hole making for a crazy-tiny circumference. Are toddlers wearin’ watches these days?

It’s a basic automatic with a sapphire crystal in a slightly unusual color scheme. Won’t be on everyone’s drool-over list, but acquire one and it might start working it’s way into some corners of your wardrobe that you didn’t necessarily expect.

Enter here to win this Orient Surveyor Automatic. One entry per person. Deadline for entry is 11:59 pm ET 7/8/14. Thanks once again to Orient for providing the watch. Good luck!

UPDATE: Congrats to Daniel T. who won the random drawing for the Orient Surveyor. Thanks once again to Orient for providing the watch.
