Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
J. Crew: 30% off Select Items, 50% off Select Sale w/ HISUMMER
- Ludlow Silk-Linen Glen Plaid Sportcoat – $134.99 FINAL ($388)
- Ludlow in Italian Cotton Silk Linen – $184.99 FINAL ($388)
- White Seersucker Shirt in Slim, Reg., or Tall – $52.50 – $56 ($75-$80)
- Bowery Slim in Oxford Cloth – $61.60 ($88)
- Abingdon Travel Kit – $40.60 ($58)
A good chunk of the site is 30% off, but almost all suiting, 3rd party, and a few other items are out (as usual). Sportcoats are in play though. And some of the items in the sale section have the “get these things out of here” 50% off cut. But it appears that most if not all of those that get the half-off bargain are final sale. So while you can’t return it, $135 is still a steal for a J. Crew half-lined sportcoat. Just make sure you know your size in the ludlow.
Massimo Dutti: Summer Sale
- Tassel Loafers in Brown, Tan, or Blue – $115 ($175)
- Linen/Wool Shawl Cardigan – $99.90 ($175)
- Prince of Wales Blazer – $140 ($198 )
- Quilted Blazer Jacket – $150 ($275)
- Cotton Oxford Trousers – $59.90 (89.50)
Zara and their big brother Massimo Dutti only do sales a couple times of year. And when they do em’, they don’t mess around. It appears that the entire site is marked down. No code needed either. Ships and returns free. A reminder, MD stuff (like Zara) runs pretty trim, so consider sizing up.
Rue La La: $75 gets you $150 Ledbury Deal
The Picks: Blue Fine Twill Slim Fit – $75.00 ($115), White Fine Twill Slim Fit – $75.00 ($115)
One of the better flash sale sites on the web is running another deal for some of the best shirts out there. Ledbury has that lowered second button, terrific fabrics, great buttons, and great construction. Problem is, Ledbury seems like they’re almost always sold out of their slim-fit options (which… aren’t as slim as most would probably like). That said, still worth picking up if you’re in the market for a splurge-worthy shirt. Remember, it’s a one-time use offer, so unless you nail $150 on the head (tough to do) chances are you’ll burn a bit of the deal if you’re getting just one shirt (you can get more than one of course, you’ll just go over the amount of the voucher). But still, it’s one of the few opportunities to get a Ledbury shirt at discount.
Jos. A. Bank: Select Allen Edmonds 30% Off
The Picks: “Nathan” in Burgundy – $241.50, “Boardroom” in Merlot – $241.50
($345)
Leave it to Jos. A. Bank to somehow mark down 1st quality Allen Edmonds in a couple of not-so-easy to find colors. Burgundy vs. Merlot… those the same? Thinking Merlot leans more red. (Update: They’re the same. Thanks to Zach in the comments) But, being that they’re labeling designs that appear to be a 5th ave. and a Park ave. as “Nathan” and “Boardroom”… then who knows. Available in black and walnut as well for the “Nathan”. Brown and Black for the simple cap toe “Boardroom” Update II: Looks like these might be made on the 7 last? Instead of the 65? Thanks to TominDC for that tip.
Nordstrom: Half-Yearly Ends Sun. More Reductions Mon?
Something to keep an eye on. If the past is any indication, there should be some new markdowns rolling out on the Nordstrom website’s sale section come Monday. Stay tuned on that one. Picks for the half-yearly can be found here.
Also worth a mention
- J. Crew Factory: They’ve got a few new arrivals, nothing mind blowing though.
- EXPRESS: Extra 40% off clearance. Price is shown in cart.
- JC Penney: Extra 15% off w/ SUMRFUN. Extra 20% kicks in at $100+. Sounds like those new Stafford wingtips are legitimate. Here’s hoping for a boot come fall.
Burgundy and merlot are the same according to Jean at the Shoebank. I asked when I was getting shoe polish.
How does the mossimi dutti suiting fit? I’m usually between a 34 (suitsupply) and 36S (brooks brothers fitz, BR modern slim) – are they pretty trim in the shoulder?
Anyone own the silk-linen glen plaid from J. Crew? Would love to see some more pics. Reviews online say it’s a little darker in person.
The Jos. A Bank Allen Edmonds are actually made-for, not the same models as their core line. There’s a Styleforum tread floating around discussing the differences in fit; nothing substantial. I got their Lamont last week for around 200, when the GIFT code was still in play.
I got in on the last Ledbury deal. Has to be one of the best feeling and fitting shirts without alterations I’ve ever worn!
AH. Excellent. Thanks Zach.
Kinda like the Brooks Brothers stuff then? Probably just a different insole?
It’s a touch more than that – some (all?) of them are made on different lasts.
So you have to use the Ledbury voucher per shirt, not per order?
Nope, one-time use. You can use it on one shirt, or a thousand shirts. You just have to use all of it, all at once. So if your shirt is $110, and you apply the offer, it’s $75, but you “lose out” on that other $40 in savings.
Gotcha. Perhaps the 7 instead of the 65. OH THE CONFUSION.
Ah okay, awesome, thanks!
Copped so hard on that Ludlow Glen Plaid. Like, 10 seconds flat. Been looking for something fun in glen plaid, and though I haven’t seen it in person, usually the Ludlow things are awesome so I’m hopeful that it’s what I’ve been looking for. $135 is a steal. Thanks for the find!
Joe- what size are you in Ludlow jackets?
man, first time found one person with same sizing.
I have the boardrooms (7 last) and the PAs in a different color. Only difference is the name and last. Otherwise identical.
I saw it at a store last night, and it’s definitely a lot more bold than the picture lets on. It’s darker overall, and the plaid grids and checks stand out WAY more. I’ll be honest, I thought it was pretty ugly and 70’s in person, while looking at it on the website, it looks nice.
Thanks! Luckily they ran out of my size before I could pull the trigger…
Ok, does anyone know if AE will re-craft an Allen Edmonds shoe that was sold through a different company (Jos A Bank or BB?)
I was told by the Shoebank (where I bought 2 BB seconds for a total of $250) that they would re-craft them.
Grabbed one myself. Hope it’s nice. I did ask them to put a note in their system that if it didn’t work for me, I could return or exchange it. They were nice enough to extend that courtesy for me, despite it being final sale.
I haven’t actually done it yet, but you could probably make it really worth it with the new customer $50 credit from Ledbury.com.
Got one too, wish I requested that…
Would love that white seersucker shirt from J Crew, but man $60 after taxes and shipping even after 30% off is a bit too rich for my blood for a shirt that isn’t a year-round staple.
Yup, they’ll take them.
You can always call/email after you receive and they will likely allow you to return it. I bought Joe’s popular Navy Ludlow on final sale and they marked it to accept a return if I decided to, though I ended up keeping it.
Hi guys, my blazer came yesterday and its pretty awesome.
how long will the sale last on the AE’s?
Jos A Bank website direction states expressly that these are recraftable. 😉
I don’t think you understand the question he asked ” 😉 “
Hey @dapperedsite:disqus – Brooks Bros semi annual sale runs 6/20 – 7/3 this year. Just FYI. 🙂
Up to 50% off “sport wear”, womens, red fleece, according to a mailer, whatever that means. 3 for $179 shirts. Nothing really noteworthy?
Yes. The cloth brings to mind a British gentlemen with his dog, going into the woods hunting with a shotgun.
The cloth is nice though.
Now, should I keep it? Saving almost another $30 is possible.
One inner pocket on the inside right, and three pockets on the left. Normal, ticket, another one near the bottom for god know’s what.
Here’s Joe’s post from last year’s event:
https://dappered.com/2013/06/brooks-brothers-semi-annual-sale-june-2013-the-picks/
I was a bit harsh earlier. ‘Ugly’ is not the right word. ‘Bold’,’not-my-style,’ and ‘British-gentlemen-with-his-dog-going-into-the-woods-hunting-with-a-shotgun’ are much better terms to describe it. If you feel comfortable in it, keep it for sure. The thing I like about the Ludlow, at least on my body, is that the fit is impeccable, so it makes pretty much anything look good.
I don’t understand the point of final sale then…Not that I probably won’t do this myself in the future, but why even say it’s final sale if it’s really not?
That Mossimi quilted blazer jacket looks pretty slick but it’s literally all synthetic. Come winter I may not care but damn man, for all synth it should be at that starting point at the get go.
Just so everyone is aware: The you can’t use the Ledbury code until 6/23 (it’s good from 6/23 to 9/23) so if you are planning on getting something that’s low stock or limited keep that in mind. I realized this too late; looks like I’m going to miss out on the shirt I was planning on grabbing. Live and learn.
Dutti Cardigan appears sold out in all sizes. I should read my Dappered faster!
I’d also like to know size comparisons…If I’m a 38 in SuitSupply, can anyone recommend how I should approach Ludlow?
Can anyone speak to the quality of Ledbury’s ties? I have several of their shirts and am pleased but would be interested in a couple ties if they are worth it.
So I’m a 36 in suitsupply and have found MD to fit a bit more true to size (i.e. 38 for me) at least in their blazers. You’re going to find the fit to be a bit trim there compared to BB, BR, higher armholes, slightly slimmer on the sleeves, and more suppressed waist, but in terms of shoulders you should be ok going a full step up from Suit Supply.
Just picked up the single button ludlow italian linen sportcoat in-store for $75. Actually somehow didn’t realize that it was only 1 button (thought it was the one above), but I can live with it for that price.
40 now. More over here: https://dappered.com/2011/07/joes-measurements/
Which suitsupply? Napoli? If you’re a 38R in a Suitsupply Napoli, I’m guessing you’re a 40 in Ludlow, but you’ll need the sleeves shortened
How do you do this???
hey can you post a photo of it? Just want to see how “darker” the color is.
Sure, I pick it up from the tailor tomorrow, will upload a pic then (assuming all goes well with the alterations)
