The sheep logo appears to be the symbol of the Order of the Golden Fleece… but why?

“No item in this collection is designed for use in a dishwasher or in microwave or conventional ovens”

Or in my mouth. I’ll stick to my $10 titanium spork.

It is. That logo has been used for over 500 years to denote fine wool.

The cut of these utensils is too boxy for me…Pass.

  6. Jason says

    May 28, 2014 at 4:19 PM

I think brown utensils have more character and would develop a more interesting patina.

Oh good, it’s on sale. I wouldn’t have bought it at full price.

  8. TJ says

I think your tailor can fix that. Just make sure the tines fit, your tailor can’t fix that.

  9. Marshall Lilly says

Agreed. I have a strict $631 cutoff for salad utensils, so I really lucked out on this sale…

  10. TJ says

    May 28, 2014 at 5:50 PM

Yeah but you can’t deny that black utensils are a staple. Every guy should have a pair in his utensil draer. And for more formal situations, nothing but black will do.

I prefer the sleeker last on the chopsticks for only $245, with an optional holder for $105.

  12. Winston Heard says

    May 28, 2014 at 7:38 PM

i don’t see the issue. $600 sounds about right for a salad tossing.

    and while we’re at it…

Someone will buy one or all of those pieces for their own peculiar reasons. The thing I’ve never understood is why people pay any kind of money for any object that blatantly advertises for the company it was bought from.

  15. Corwin says

    May 29, 2014 at 5:01 AM

What’s sad is that at $245, I’m actually considering those chopsticks. $630 for a fork and spoon is ridiculous… but under $300 for some nice chopsticks is somehow okay? WTF…

I can’t help but think of that grandma or aunt everyone has who collects spoons.

I just really want to know how this made it through multiple rounds of employees. Like, what kind of unlikely events have to take place for this to make it all the way to the website?

  19. Winston Heard says

    May 29, 2014 at 8:01 AM

just curious… is that your actual name or a How I Met Your Mother reference?

  20. Marshall Lilly says

    Actual name, scout’s honor.

  22. Brailleyard says

To be honest, the only weird thing about it is the price….which sits alongside several of their suits etc. It’s no more strange than Porsche designing an external hard drive, or Kim kardashian getting a say in the next range rover….

There’s a market with the money top spend on this stuff…and sadly, they neither read dappered nor vote their conscience.

On the flipside…it does make sense to make it un dishwasher safe…what would my kitchen slave do in the scullery I had built for them?

And worst of all, the oh-so-fancy name they use for the wood is incorrect. They call it Tillis Japonica. Unfortunately, it’s Tillia Japonica. They probably confused it with the New Yorker symbol, Eustace Tilley.
