Three buts:
BUT #1: Usual exclusions apply. So blazers, suit jackets, 3rd party merchandise, and the annoying-scatter-shot-these-are-out-because-we-said-so items labeled “BR Picks” are all excluded.
BUT #2: There’s an odd amount of blazers buried in their sale section (they don’t show up when you just click on “blazers & vests”) with some decent markdowns already applied. So no code needed there. BR Blazers rarely, if ever go on sale these days. And if you haven’t signed up for their email list, you should be able to apply the “special offer” (usually 20 – 25% off) code that you’ll get when you do so. Prices below reflect either the sale or 40% off price… minus any stackable codes.
BUT #3: The vast majority of Banana Republic’s blazers are either fully lined in polyester, have functional sleeve buttons… or both. An all poly lining is far from ideal this time of year, since that lack of breath-ability can make a lot of guys feel like they’re suffocating in the heat. Meanwhile, functional sleeve buttons can be a pain (or flat out not worth the price) to tailor. But plenty of guys still love Banana Republic’s blazers, so… off we go.
Button stance on these blazers is fantastic, the tail usually isn’t chopped, and the fabrics are usually pretty decent. Armholes can be low, they’re fused and sometimes stiff, but overall they’re great for the mid $100s price range. This one is fully lined, but not sure in what. Could be all poly, could be poly on the back/sleeves & the front is acetate. Depends on the blazer.
A shade and pattern that you’d expect to be cut in wool… but it’s cotton. That’s sorta what BR does (and to many, excel in) when it comes to the blazer game. A nice staple all the same. Fully lined. Not sure with what on this one.
Not much of a discount here, but it does come highly recommended by Tom & M. over here. 52% Linen, 36% Cotton, 12% Polyester makes up the chambray (odd mix for chambray) fabric. Nice patch pockets. Alas, the description does say “fully lined”, and according to Tom & M. it is fully lined in poly. So know that.
Certainly much more of a fall or winter shade, but it’s the kind of blazer that pairs exceptionally well with jeans, and might look decent with off-white chinos or five pockets on a cooler than normal spring day. Fully lined.
Not sure on this one. The buckles look to be placed awkwardly high up on the vamp? But at eighty four bucks, a versatile grey shade o’ suede… might be worth a shot.
Also available in a sharp looking grey as well as a navy
Could be trimmer through the gut, but everything else looks & feels spot on. 55% Silk, and 45% linen. Has a nice mix of texture & softness in your hands. Collar doesn’t dip too low, and there’s some decent width to the ribbing. Six colors to pick from.
Not their slimmest “tailored-slim”, but their sorta slim “slim”. Got that? Right. 55% linen / 45% cotton. Tons of colors to pick from. A summer staple.
One of the best. Super smooth 100% cotton fabric that dresses up extremely well under a lightweight blazer. Tons of colors to pick from. Spread collar.
Not the cheapest for shorts, but the sharper-chambray (as opposed to more rumpled fabric) might look pretty good paired with an OCBD with the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of suede loafers.
Allegedly leans a little more true-blue than dark navy in person. Suede, casual buckle… might make for a nice summer belt to wear with grey or white pants.
Much, much better looking in person than in the pics on the BR website. While not mind-blowing, the leather quality seems to be a step up from their non-suede shoes of the past. Closed lacing give this slightly burnished true-oxford a nice and sleek look. Sole has a bit of traction to it. Overall a nice beater dress shoe. Already on sale, and now downright cheap. Very limited sizes though.
Wrapping up how we began. A bit odd, but a lot affordable. Again, listed as “fully lined” but not sure what the lining fabric make-up is. Funky pattern & contrasting (but not by much) elbow patches. Careful here, this one is final sale, so you can’t return it. Was $225. Hat tip to Ronald in the comments for noticing that the code works on this one. Probably because it’s final sale? Doesn’t seem to work on the other blazers…
The 40% off code BRMONDAY expires today, 5/19. No word on how long those sale prices are going to be good for on the blazers, or, if they’ll dip further during the upcoming long holiday weekend.
The Huck team is off on vacation. Which means their big winter clearance is very…
Brooks Brothers starts their winter clearance with an additional 25% off sale items.
Plus a Christmas album you probably haven't heard yet this year. Maybe.
With a focus on holiday events. It's their last sale before their shipping cutoff.
