The Thur/Fri Handfuls are great, but what if Monday rolls around and there are a few sales that can’t wait til the weekend? You’ll find three of the best, with three picks from each, to start the week below. Expect these with zero regularity. Note: The Sales Tripod’s mascot is Captain Cookster, the three legged tabby seen above. Proving that yet again, in the most unlikely ways, cats continue to dominate the internet.
Wat. WAT. Big hat tip to reader Joe over here for pointing out that there’s a few Suitsupply suits on discount over at Huckberry. Huckberry is a flash sale site, so you’ve got to hand over your email, but they’re one of the better/more fun ones. Especially if you’re the type who likes to spend time outdoors. Wild that they got their hands on a few Suitsupply suits for their “wedding” shop. But BE CAREFUL. Suitsupply can vary quite a bit by “fit”. So a Napoli isn’t going to fit the same as say, a Havana. Check their size charts on Suitsupply’s website.
Moly. 100% linen. But again, know that the fit on the Havana is going to be noticeably different for those of us used to wearing the Napoli fit. Here’s a comparison of measurements between the two. Basically, the Havana is smaller through the shoulders and chest, but the same through the upper waist. You could size up on the jacket and get the waist tailored up a bit, but then what about the sleeve length and those functioning sleeve buttons? Eesh. Lots to consider here.
UPDATE: Concerned about the “This suit is eligible for exchange” line? Understandable. Turns out though that you CAN return this suit. According to the Huckberry Brass: “Free returns for Huckberry Store credit, OR, refund to CC less return shipping”
Well hang on. They’re $16.98 through Huckberry, but tack on $4.98 in shipping and they actually cost more on sale at Huckberry than they do direct from Jomers ($20, free shipping). Dang, that’s not… ideal. They got em’ over at the Jomers site though. Some are on back order, but they’re $20 and ship free.
Another Havana fit, this time in houndstooth. Going for $469 through the Suitsupply site. Again, check those measurements.
The usual Ludlow Suiting / 3rd Party Merch / Most shoes exclusions apply. Code is also good for an extra 30% (sometimes 50% if it’s final sale) off the sale section too.
.
Sadly wasn’t part of the “select items” that got a 30% off cut last week, but hey… 25% off is still nice. Might become the go-to sportcoat of the summer, being that it’s unconstructed and made in breathable cotton. It’s not cut in precise chest sizes though, just S/M/L/etc… so expect some tailoring to be needed. Wear it with jeans for beers, off-white chinos for mint juleps.
Hardly anything better than pants cut from oxford cloth. No personal experience with the J. Crew options (snagged a couple Bonobos “Oxleys” last year), but know that their slim fits are slim. And their 484 fit is allegedly even thinner. Thunder thighs? Might want to look elsewhere. The more casual, sun faded 484 fits usually go for around $80. The Bowery’s are usually listed at $88.
Nice. The code actually works here. Already on sale, and an extra 30% off drops it to investment, but still kinda attainable level. Walks the line between dressed up and dressed down, so it’ll work in most… uh… dressed up yet dressed down workplaces (insightful, right?). Made in the USA. Horween leather. 16″ wide.
That free shipping no min. is key, since most of us aren’t going to pick up more than one or two things at Original Penguin at any given time. But stuff like their polos & swimwear, especially this time of year, are certainly worth a look.
.
Some of us are just flat out suckers for OP’s “Earl” polo in their trimmer, “heritage” fit. Super soft cotton, retro piping details, and yes, a logo… but it’s the Penguin. Hard not to like the Penguin. Six colors available in the updated “2.0” style (not quite as big of a collar), and the free shipping is completely key if you’re looking to pick up just one polo.
Jersey cotton, an extra long placket, and the slimmer fit. Pretty pricey for a polo, but it’ll stand out more than a plain one from say, UNIQLO.
Original Penguin seems to really do a fantastic job with swimwear for us fellas. Their “volley” style has a 6″ inseam, while for the more confident dudes can pull on a pair of the “box” trunks with a 3″ inseam. Strange that the online descriptions don’t mention if they have a mesh liner or not, but if they’re like Penguin trunks of the past, they will (which is much appreciated by many.) Ties at the waist, but no scrunchy diaper-like waistband on the outside.
Also on the radar to start the week: Lands’ End is 30% off full priced men’s items & free shipping through today w/ RAIN and pin 3021.
