Sales that deserve some attention heading into the weekend, or sometimes, a bit earlier. Might not be some massive once a year event, but still worth a look. Those are what make up these handfuls. Expect these things when necessary. Five of the better sales, one for each finger, are below. Included are a few picks worth pointing out.
The Get it, Wait, & See: Gilt City: Extra 25% off at J. Crew Factory – Free
Two key points here from the fine print:
- Valid through Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 11:59pm ET
- This 25% off voucher can be used on top of J.Crew Factory’s already existing sales and promotions of up to 50% off.
SO. As long as you’re willing to hand over an email (if you haven’t already) to Gilt’s “Gilt City” groupon-like site, and then play the wait-and-see game between now and tax day, you might be able to bottom out the price on something from J. Crew Factory depending on what promos/codes they’ll run. It’s a free voucher, so all you have to do is sign up and you’ll get a code emailed to you within 24 hours. Many thanks to Jason, Jesse, and Chip for the style tips on this deal.
Lastcall: Extra 30% off Everything
The Pick: Magnanni Double Monk Medallion Cap Toe – $224.00 ($320)
Oh. Lord. Just in. A lot going on with that shoe, but thankfully Magnanni went with a more traditional toe (instead of their spear-like chisel they use on plenty of other models). Might drop further with upcoming sales. Just in at the LastCall site. Ships free with the code FREESHIP.
Ledbury: $75 gets you $145 voucher via Gilt City
The Picks: Blue Fine Twill Worker – $75 ($115), White Royal Twill Worker – $75 ($125)
That’s two Gilt City deals in one handful. Nice work outta them today. Unlike the J. Crew Factory deal, this one costs money. And $75 is a lot to spend on a shirt, but Ledbury shirts are a legitimate splurge. If you like to go tieless, these are perfect. The second button is set just a touch lower, so you don’t look stuffy with one undone (yet don’t show tons o’ man-chest with two undone). Fabrics are fantastic and construction is terrific. Problem is they’re ALWAYS sold out of slim fits. But the voucher doesn’t expire until July 1st (and at that point, it’s just worth the $75 paid value).
Maxton Men: Extra 25% off Sale Items w/ EXTRA25
The Pick: Winn leather duffle in tan, brown, or black – $123.00 ($180)
Well that’s nice and simple. A little on the small side though. At 18″ x 12″ x 8″ , you’re looking at a touch over 1700 cubic inches of space. That’s more gym bag than weekend duffle for a lot of us. But still. Leather looks pretty decent in the online pics. Metal feet on the underside. Free shipping and free returns.
Ralph Lauren: 25% off Select Goods w/ RLGIVING2014
The Picks: Willem Ribbon Loafer – $74.25 ($99), Wyndings Loafer – $74.25 ($99), Tie Silk Cuff Link Tray – $48.75 ($65)
Part of Ralph Lauren’s Pink Pony event, where they donate $100,000 towards their “pink pony” fund which supports cancer care and prevention. Meanwhile, nice looking driving loafers this year. And good call by them to move the “polo” logo off the heel, to a more subtle, embossed location on the side. But… the tan loafers are called Wyndings? ???
Also worth a mention
- Billy Reid: 20% off Friends &Family w/ FF2014. (They seem oddly low in stock, especially for their sale section, compared to F&F events in the past.)
- Banana Republic: 35%, 40%, or 50% off select customer sale with the usual exclusions (this is one of those you go to the site via an email link or otherwise and a code pops up).
- GILT: They’ve launched a Billykirk event.
- J. Crew: Their Extra 30% off & Extra 50% off Final Sale items w/ SHOPNOW is still going on.
- Kenneth Cole: 30% off F&F w/ FFA14.
- H&M: 30% off $100+ with code 1748, 25% off $75+ with code 1737, 20% off $50+ with code 1726
Apparently the BR sale is one that can be manipulated using the “cookie method” outlined here: http://www.reddit.com/r/frugalmalefashion/comments/1h70tz/bananarepubliccoms_cookiedriven_sale_modification/
I’ve never tried it myself, but apparently it works.
Also, apparently it stacks with the 10% off that new Banana Card holders get, using the code “WELCOME”.
How does Ledbury compare to designer shirts like Zegna, Canali, Burberry, etc.?
I think billy reid resented losing that first round berth…
‘Cause their sale section is an embarrassment at the moment.
Those Willem Ribbon loafers from RL are looking pretty. Highly considering pulling the trigger on them. Anyone have any additional information?
The 50% code in BR’s “30-40-50 tiered surprise” is like a unicorn to me: I’ve never seen it, and I’m beginning to think it’s a myth. Forty popped up today, per the usual. But alas, I ordered items two days ago, when the code was for 41% on 4/1.
Also, “Gilt30” gets you an extra 30% off.
Just a note, the Ledbury $145 for $75 Gilt voucher must be used all at once — if you use less, you forfeit the remainder, so you get 1 shirt for $75, regardless of whether it’s reg price is $145 or $115, unless you add additional stuff (another shirt, accessories, etc.) on top of any shirt under $145.
That being said, still an amazing deal for some quality shirts.
Supposedly that code stacks with everything. I was able to stack it with the 40% off and 20% off that was all over the threads a few weeks ago. I got those BR blue suede bucks for $60. I had to call in the order though, because it wouldn’t let me check out haha.
I just got the elusive 50% off: BRSPRING50 good till the 6th!
Also, I think the code is WELCOME10

Use this technique and change it to a “C”. Bam… 50% off.
Yep, that’s what I did.
Corwin, not that I doubted you, but… WOW, that works! Awesome.
Did not work for me
It’s pretty paltry. I was disappointed myself.
Yep. And. Yep.
Your faith has been rewarded with discounts. Now build me a shrine!
It works! I do feel like I caught a unicorn. Unfortunately I’ve done so much shopping lately that I still can’t justify buying anything. But those Digby Brogues at $79, mmmmm……
Any thoughts on Ledbury vs. Ratio in terms of fit–specifically the slim fit? Seems impossible that Ledbury would be able to match Ratio’s fit. How’s the slim in Ledbury?
For the Gilt City (Ledbury) deal, try “welcome20” as the promo code.
There’s been a lot of Billy Reid stuff at my local Nordstrom Rack lately all in the $20-60 range. I saw tons of polo’s and henleys, button downs, henley’s, and pants. You might wanna check it out if you have one nearby.

anyone have any experience with these? Sizing or quality?
Currently going for $96 and I am tempted…
Ratio’s fit is all made-to-measure, so you’re probably right, unless your exact measurements actually are replicated in a Ledbury shirt.
For me personally, the Ledbury slim is the best fit on the OTR market that I’ve found. I get a majority of my dress shirts from Ratio, but go to Ledbury for off-the-beaten-path patterns/fabrics, etc.
Good to know, Lewis. Thanks. I’m pretty slim (5’11” 150ish), so I have a hard time finding a good fit.
Thanks, man. The best OTR fit I’ve found is J.Crew’s slim fit. Besides that, my best-fitting shirts have all been made for me. I should receive my first Ratio soon. I’m excited for that. My other tailor-made shirts have all come from a traveling Hong Kong tailor. I’d rather buy American.
They’ll email it to you within 24 hours.
Wish I knew this earlier. $60 for a $115-$145 shirt is a awesome deal!
From what I’m seeing, the sale section is cut down right now to exclude things like shoes from the sale. I can still find things like these double monks if I google for them. I knew they still had some in stock so I was about to pull the trigger on them with the sale today but they were nowhere to be seen. http://www.billyreid.com/product/monk-w-lug-chocolate.html
Flint and Tinder 25% off site-wide with code “Friends”! Valid though April 6th 11:59pm
Get ya some awesome USA made good!! Own 5 pairs of their underwear, one sweatshirt and their navy peacoat! Amazing quality for the price and supports US jobs!
You wouldn’t happen to have a list of things that dissapeared – or know where I might find one would you?
You can also use the code DEAD2US at Flint & Tinder and get 85% off of any one item.
through 11:59 EST tonight
Just tried that code… it didnt work.
It did say “while supplies last”. I wondered what they meant by that; must have meant supply of codes.
i dont care what it is, if its 85% off im probably buying it.
Sorry no clue where I would find such a thing. All I remember is that the Jackson Lug, Lug Double Monk and Indianola Natural were in the sale section.
