Orient M-Force Air Diver – $392.00 w/ dappered30 ($565)
That code is good for 30% off, and also gets you the Orient “freebie” package, which includes a quartz watch of Orient’s choosing and a lanyard. Thanks to Orient for providing a new code.
Think of it as a less toothy version of Seiko’s Monster, with a power reserve indicator… and much, much more expensive.
This is most definitely a dive watch. 200 m water resistance, luminescent markings on the dial (even the power-reserve indicator has lume to it) and an easy to grip 120-click bezel. Case measures 46mm but it sure wears a bit smaller. It’s no dainty thing, but it sits on the wrist comfortably, and doesn’t feel like you’ve got a brick wrapped around your arm. Maybe it’s the super-soft urethane strap. Unlike some rubber or synthetic straps, this one doesn’t fight against your skin. But for almost $400, it better not.
120 click rotating bezel, easy to read dial, and a full tank of tough.
So what do you get for all that extra cash if you’re considering this instead of a Monster? The power reserve indicator is the most obvious addition, and instead of Seiko’s Hardlex, the crystal on the Orient is Sapphire. No day on this one, just a date window, and the bezel is black instead of matching silver stainless steel. Movement is one of Orient’s in-house hackable & hand-windable automatics. Shock and magnetic resistant.
There are many automatic dive watches out there with similar attributes that go for a much lower price. Again, just look at Seiko (which Orient happens to be a subsidiary of), and despite the M-Force Air Diver looking great, feeling great, and working mighty well… so does it’s cousin The Monster. All for $200 less.

Update: Congrats to Ty P. who won the Orient M-Force Air Diver!
Possibly a little large for my wrist but i would wear the heck out that watch!!
Not my style of watch so I’ll leave this one to the iGents who need something big on their wrist. Good luck guys!
What kind of outfit would you suggest wearing a dive watch like this with?
Thanks for another great giveaway – looks like an interesting watch to take for a spin!
Been eyeing this watch for a while! I’ve worn the SRP Monster (the SRP307K1) as an everyday beater and it’s been only okay–while the case looks solid, it doesn’t hold up well when it’s been knocked around. The M-Force is actually ISO certified for not just water resistance but for anti-magnetic and shock resist which is something I definitely need!
a wetsuit
Definitely casual, weekend type wear… at 46mm this is no “dress diver.” Well-worn OCBD or henley, jeans or chinos, desert boots or sneakers, etc. The watch is well-suited for summer beach wear as well, with a t-shirt, swim trunks, and boat shoes or sandals.
I like the style, but I wish that Orient made divers for men with small wrists.
Clarification: Orient is owned by Seiko Epson (better known simply as Epson), whereas the Seiko Watch Corp is owned by Seiko Holdings Corp. Seiko Epson and Seiko Holdings Corp share a common namesake, a common history, and some major shareholders, but they and their subsidiaries are technically independent corporate entities.
It would be more accurate to describe Seiko (the watchmaker) and Orient as cousin corporations than as parent/subsidiary corporations.
You should give the Mako/Ray a shot. Their diameter is listed as 41.5mm but they wear more like a traditional 40mm diver due to the shape and proportions of the case and bezel. The diameter of the bezel itself is actually ~39mm IIRC.
I’ve got pretty petite wrists and my blue Ray doesn’t wear any bigger than my dad’s 40mm, circa ’70s Rolex Sub.
Ben, the Ray’s still pushing it for me, but my wrists are capellini-thin.
Have you tried one on? IIRC your main watch is an Orient Cosmos, which is a 40mm watch in a dressier style. I feel like a 40mm dress watch would actually wear similar to, if not bigger than, a 40-41mm dive watch. Sportier styles like dive watches wear smaller than their size indicates, due to the wide bezel and the comparatively small dial size.
I don’t mean to push you toward buying something you don’t want to buy, but I wouldn’t discount the Mako/Ray just because your wrist is small. Your wrists can’t be any tinier than mine (6″) and my Ray is comfortable. I don’t think it looks or feels comically oversized, and I am more conservative than most when it comes to watch sizing (I prefer a 35-39mm dress watch and a 38-41mm sports watch).
Would I buy it? Nope. Would I like to win it? Hell yeah.
Good advice
Nice watch, thanks for the opportunity! Any chance of a Dappered/Steinhart collaboration? I’m lusting hard after the Triton Dual Time!
Nice watch, looks very similar to the bargain Invicta watch that I own and wear nearly daily to work with suits. Crossing my fingers on this one!
dunno about that two tone, seems a bit busy overall
agree, my blue ray looks great
I am thinking of buying one of these with my tax refund. If I win it I can use the money for something I really need lol
I have always liked the M-Force Series, and this model is my favorite!
Awesome giveaway guys!! Love your site!
Great looking watch.. simple, sporty yet very classy. Could be my everyday watch if I am lucky. Good Job Orient 🙂
Nice weekend watch maybe?
