wait… you’re supposed to wear clothes when you take a selfie?

I post a selfie about once or twice every two weeks. And it’s never actually a full length selfie nor can you see me holding my iphone in the mirror because i point the lens to me rather than the mirror. Moderation is best so I make sure my Instagram account has a balanced amount of clothes, food, jokes, vacation, the wife, etc.

Hahaha I knew this was going to be good just based on the title. For some strange reason I am totally ok with people taking WIWT selfies for mens style websites, but I have absolutely zero tolerance for any other types of selfies from a guy.
I actually laughed loudly in the library at the daily calendar. Perfect delivery.
My apartment has awesome drop lighting for wawt shots. It might have played a part in my decision to renew my lease.

I prefer boss-man Joe’s private bathroom. The privacy of his personal commode provides me with the opportunity to master my jump shot off the toilet rim for that perfect action selfie.

What about mancleavage shots?

…wait, the calendar-thing is bad? Well, what am I supposed to do with all these copies of “Your Daily Dan”?

You can make your own lighting rig for under a hundred bucks. Take that to any bathroom you like, for perfect lighting conditions anywhere.
So that’s why there’s always footprints on the seat.

I’ve been wondering where you took that photo wrapped in a pink towel and with your finger gingerly pressed against your lips. Joe’s personal bathroom.

If you’re a man, and not writing for Dappered and taking a selfie, you shouldn’t be.

As of yet, I have never took a selfie. I may one day. Most of the time, I just look at myself in the mirror and check the color scheme, fit, drape and say quietly to myself “Not bad. Not bad at all,” if I like what I see then I proceed to walk out the door.

I’ve taken & posted selfies in the past here at Threads – mostly in the WIWT or Weekly Contest sections (as far as true “selfies” go – but I seemingly do much, much less these days. I think it’s mainly due to reaching a certain point of comfort with “what I’m wearing” – thanks in heavy doses to the feedback and input from other forum members, whose opinions I trust and value. Since I feel like I have a better grip on things these days (vs when I first came here), I don’t seem to post those types pics as much as I did when I was looking for some better direction. I try to return the favor in helping out other newcomers, if I feel that I can nudge them in what I see as a good direction or decision with their outfits too. The vets here usually have things pretty much nailed. *Usually* – LOL.
I additionally have no issue with the fellas who continue to post WIWTs with fervor, even though they have also seemingly reached that comfort zone that I mentioned above. I still find inspiration from some of those, and generally enjoy seeing what some of the other gents of Dappered are wearing these days.
The selfies that I *do* tend to dislike (or at least get tired of) are the same smiling, or worse yet, “duckface” poser-shots that some folks on the intertron seem to make a major focus as part of the documentation (good word, Joe) of their every move in life.
That said, I still post occasionally when I either am sporting a new item (everybody likes to show off their new goods a little bit, right?), or when showing others pics of items if they are considering buying them (or similar goods) for themselves. Those posts may be in the form of a selfie (or a collage including some) or more of an unboxing/layout pic of the good(s) in question.
And finally, if I’m ever *busted* taking a selfie, I quickly try to diffuse the situation and pretend it never happened. Doh! /embarrassed

That was a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng comment. Sorry. I should have just commented on Joe’s private bathroom lighting and been done with it. It’s spectacular, BTW.

I think headless, anonymous photos posted in a subforum aren’t really what Joe is going after here. I’ve learned a ton from feedback people give on the WIWT thread. I don’t post to get “reblogs.” I’m trying to improve my style. And there’s a lot of people with a good eye who are willing to share feedback. Thanks, yoyo and others!

I don’t get the headless photo thing. I understand the desire for privacy & all, but if you’re a private person do you really even take selfies and post them to the internet? I understand we don’t want every detail of our lives posted to the internet, but if I am out looking online and see Dave’s (random name) wardrobe posted every day in the WIWT, I’m gonna know it’s him! I also get that there’s the google image finder out there, but who cares? If someone is trying to dig stuff up on you and they find that you’re conscious of how you dress, what’s the issue? I’m impressed by everyone that takes the time to post these and ask how they can look better.. It shows drive! And if being made fun of for dressing nicely is what the U.S. has come to (which it certainly has) then we need to initiate a rebellion! I’m sick of the lazy sweats and (goodness forbid) even pajamas I see in a day. Dress nice and let ’em envy your drive.

It’s actually been a while since I posted a WIWT… Mostly because I can’t get good lighting anywhere.
Try the bathroom on the 3rd floor. Fantastic. 🙂
We are still talking about lighting, right?

We’ve already got a pro lighting rig (wife is a photographer), but I’m too lazy to set it up and tear it back down for selfies.
So that’s why there’s always footprints on the seat.
