It’ll be here before you know it. Our annual 12 days of Dappered gift guide covers one item/idea each week-day for the next dozen days. All will be reasonably affordable, and at the same time they should (hopefully) appeal to someone who might drop on by this corner of the internet. So if you’re looking for ideas on what to give a decently dressed (yet budget conscious) fellow, or, if you’ve got friends/family struggling for ideas on what to get someone (you) who’s hard to buy for, check back in as this year’s 12 Days churns on. You’ll also find the growing archive here.
“Did someone say…” (looks right, looks left, looks up, back to center) “wood?”
Hangers and shoe trees? Yawn, right? Not if you’re like most of us, who get excited about a new pair of shoes or a new suit and then… realize we don’t have the equipment to store the new stuff properly. Then comes the guilt. Then comes the swiping of your “good” hangers from an older but still well liked jacket. Or you keep the crummy cardboard inserts in your new shoes until you can acquire a new pair of trees. Save us. Save us from ourselves.
Nothing says “I understand your style habit” quite like gifting a pair of shoe trees for his next pair (green light!). Or, a batch of wide shouldered wood hangers so he can ditch the plastic covered wire hangers from the dry cleaners. Plus, these aren’t stocking stuffers, but they’re not super expensive either. Hat tip to RunDadRun for pointing out these six packs of wide shouldered hangers on Sierra Trading Post. For the trees, go with the USA Made Woodlore Option for $20, or even less if you’ve got a Nordstrom Rack in your area.
The Great American Hanger Company Wooden Suit Hanger–Non-Slip Bar, 6 pack – $32.97 ($54.95)
You’ll need the code SFBTD12213 which gets 25% off & free shipping no min.
Obviously, the correct thing to do when you buy a suit and have no hanger is to take about five “normal” hangers and zip tie them together.
Not that I’ve done that or anything.

Cut. It. Out.
Is it just me or does the code not work?
Interesting… try going through their twitter page, here’s the link they posted: http://t.co/iuNyrV6wfW

Jos. A. Bank is still offering full cedar shoe trees in their periodic threefer sales, both online and in stores. (And they have one going on today, 12/16/2013.) I recently bought 6 pair for $51, which qualified me for free shipping. They’re high quality and seemingly from the same factory most of the competing brands come from.
Shipping is free with no minimum right now. Picked up three more today.
If you’re looking for a cheaper 100% wooden hanger, Target sells a 5 pack for around $5-6
They may be wood, but certainly not suit hangers, though.
What are some good options for wooden – or otherwise solid – hangers for those with extremely limited closet space? Manhattan apartments are decidedly lacking in space, and bulky wooden hangers, however lovely, make it hard to make it work. Any ideas?
It’s funny how these hangers from “the great American hanger company” are made in China…
Any suggestions for guys with slim shoulders? I find a lot of suit hangers extend beyond the suit shoulders and end up leaving a dimple in the arm
No, they aren’t. Apologies, should have clarified.
Kirby Allison’s The Hanger Project is where I get my hangers at. They are the most amazing hangers ever!
